This week we introduce Dominique Tipper who plays Naomi Nagata on The Expanse. We also reveal why Naomi is Lex's favorite character and Nikki's second-favorite character and why Lex thinks long hair in zero-g is a bad idea. Finally, can we please excise sexism from the English language? Thank you.

Welcome to the first episode of Expanse The Unofficial Podcast. We introduce ourselves and the show, give some basic, spoiler-free information about the setting and time period of The Expanse, and we provide you with a host of resources where you can learn more about the show and story.

We give some basic, spoiler-free information about the setting and time period of The Expanse.

We also give you a host of resources where you can learn more about the show and the story (see the links below).

We explain how spin-gravity and thrust-gravity work.

We explain a bit about Earthers, Martians and Belters.

We talk about the chronology of the books and short stories.

The Expanse premiers on SyFy with two episodes, the first on December 14 and the second on the 15 (Monday & Tuesday).

How will belters’ anatomy be portrayed in the show?

What will they do with Avasarala’s “potty mouth”?

One of the best resources we can give you for learning more about The Expanse is our own Google+ Community. We compile everything we find about The Expanse there.

Another great place to visit is SyFy's official website for The Expanse. You can also find good information on a wiki for The Expanse.

Currently, as mentioned on the show, you can read the prequel short story, Drive, on SyFy's site. You can also sign up for James S.A. Corey's newsletter here.

Be sure to check out the Virtual Reality app for The Expanse on Android and iOS. This is compatible with Google Cardboard (although you really don't need Cardboard to enjoy the app). The app has now been updated for Android. Here's an article on how to make your own Google Cardboard (although the writers agree with me that it's really not worth the effort).

Here is one of the videos we mentioned on the show. This is an interview with the authors of The Expanse with some really interesting background information.

Of course, we would be remiss if we didn't include the official trailer.

For more videos, including interviews with members of the cast, check out our Google+ Community.
