I was at a conference one day, serving the attendees at ‘Prophetic Booths’. 

We created little stations of 3 chairs. Two for a couple of us who would be asking God for a word of encouragement for the 3rd person, a conference guest.

I was still so new at hearing God’s voice and I was so scared I’d make a mistake, so I was really relying on my partner to know what they were doing.

A man walked up to me and he looked like he lived in a homeless camp and had his one nice shirt on. His arm was broken and in a sling and his beard was long and scraggly. I was mortified! This man couldn’t possibly hear from God!

“Great, now I’m going to have to get a word for me, AND from him” I complained to God.

We introduced ourselves and waited for our first guest…

What happened next absolutely changed my life forever!

I learned a valuable lesson that day that I share in today’s podcast episode. I don’t get to hold other people to MY expectations. I don’t get to judge. I don’t get to say how you should be.

Jesus was very clear - “Love the Lord your God and love your neighbor as yourself” - Mark 12:30-31

Now I am able to stand before someone and simply ask, “Lord, what do You love about this person? How do You see them?”

It is the most freeing space to live from.
