In previous episodes I have looked in detail at the directions in the big book regarding step 4. I also went through the second step proposition exercise on fear. Now to complete our look at step 4 we get an excellent perspective on step 4 in this chapter.

Bill continues his downward spiral. He takes the first step. There is no hope. But God makes his move and sends a messenger to Bill. Every time I read and go through these pages I am filled with gratitude on so many levels. What is at first a slim reed becomes the hand of God.

This chapter begins by giving some observations on the power of prayer and meditation. We look at the st francis prayer. What does it suggest? What do I bring if connected to God ? What do I seek? What do I receive? How can this prayer be used in meditation to improve my conscious contact with God? How is this prayer a vision of God’s will for me?

We complete our look at step 11 in the steps we took. Further instructions on meditation. The goal of our prayers. What do do during the day when agitated or doubtful. Finally some observations on the results of this step.
