It started as a personal conversation about authority and it landed on a reflection of our experiences as well as our feelings about the police. Our perspectives are as uniquely different as they are the same. And our Brown-ness is an integral part of how we try to make sense of this human experience. Were Mark's experiences with the police whispers from the Universe? Or was it simply luck that he didn't get arrested or killed?

And is facing these fears... the fears so deeply entrenched in our cultural influences, a necessary part of our spiritual growth?
