This is a fun book of experiments that young students can use to find out about plant environments ...
Experiments are lots of fun, especially if you can learn something when you run them. After you are all done, sometimes itâs easy to draw conclusions from what you see. If you want to know how temperature affects seeds, itâs very easy to run a simple experiment to find out whether or not it does. We can easily see that when spring arrives âsunshine and warm weather helps plants grow.â Just what kind of simple experiment can you run to check out this statement?
Itâs actually not all that hard. If you gather together three clear Mason jars (or something similar), some masking tape, a marker, water, and thirty sunflower seeds, youâre ready to begin. You can label each jar âCold,â âRoom Temp,â and âHot.â Fill each jar with water that coincides with the temperature youâve labeled the jar with. Divide up your seeds up and place ten in each jar. Then âCheck your jars twice a day for the next three days.â Each time you take a look at them, replace the water. Remember to put the right temp in there?
After you are through with the experiment, youâll need to take a close look at those seeds and think about what you see. The results should tell you how temperature affects seeds. There are many experiments you can run that will tell you some interesting fact about a plantâs environment. For example, in this book you can learn how worms actually help plants, how oil affects them, and just how a cactus can survive in the desert. Youâll be able to find out just how these things happen when you run experiments. Directions for each one are found in the pages of this book.
This is a fun book of experiments that young students can use to find out about plant environments. Each experiment is a simple one that can be done at home or in a classroom. The list of things needed for each experiment is listed in a visual sidebar with labels for each item. Newly independent readers can work through this chapter book with some assistance with words such as âoxygen,â words that are defined in the glossary. The layout pops with colorful photographs and has small sidebars that add additional information. There are four simple, kid-friendly experiments that will help young students learn about plant science. In the back of the book is an index, a glossary, a âReport Like a Scientistâ section, some âFun Facts,â and additional recommended book and website resources to explore. There are additional free complementary educational resources on the publisherâs website.
