In life we search for life partners, friends, twin flames, soul mates, the one; not realizing that you are your longest commitment.
You are the only confirmed guest at you're birth and death - both events.
We focus so much on what's outside of ourselves without realizing, it all starts with self.
We will love people make commitments and agreements to others, of course; but those relationships come after your greatest commitment which is you/self.
Is this selfish, self-centered, narcissistic even? I don't believe so, but what do I mean?
Consider this scripture: 'love your neighbor as yourself' (Mark 12:31)
Have you heard that one before?
I've come to the understanding that this scripture is meant as instructions to love and love well ourselves.
If we love ourselves really, really well then in turn that will spread outside ourselves, i.e. the neighbor, friend, lover, humanity.
If we love this_____person as ourselves.
This can only happen when you love yourself first and best: You are your longest commitment.
