    Resumen:

A Spanish-language edition of three speeches on corporate globalism and imperialism by one of the most widely known guerilla fighters, political theorists, and organizers, Che Guevara.

In this collection of three speeches, Ernesto Che Guevara offers a revolutionary view of a world in which human solidarity and understanding replace imperialist agression and exploitation.

First, in a sharp speech given in Algeria on February 24, 1965 at the Afro-Asia Economic Seminar, Che speaks about the nature of capitalism and the revolutionary struggle that would open the way for a new, socialist society. Guevara's 1965 essay, 'Socialism and Man in Cuba,' is a milestone in twentieth-century emancipatory social thought. Finally, “Message to the Tricontinental” is one of Che’s more well-known works, which outlines the tactics and strategies that should be followed in revolutionary struggle.

This collection of writings merges Che's philosophy, politics, and economics in his all encompassing, coherent revolutionary vision. His ideas and his struggle strike a chord in the current search for global justice.

Title: November 1942: An Intimate History of the Turning Point of World War II

    Author: Peter Englund

    Narrator: Mark Bramhall

    Format: Unabridged

    Length: 18:41:03

    Language: English

    Release date: 11-21-23

    Publisher: Random House (Audio)

    Genres: History, World, Military

    Summary:

The New York Times Book Review Editors' Choice • An intimate history of the most important month of World War II, completely based on the diaries, letters and memoirs of the people who lived through it

At the beginning of November 1942, it looked as if the Axis powers could still win the Second World War; at the end of that month, it was obviously just a matter of time before they would lose. In between were el-Alamein, Guadalcanal, the French North Africa landings, the Japanese retreat in New Guinea and the Soviet encirclement of the German 6th Army at Stalingrad. It may have been the most important thirty days of the twentieth century. In this hugely innovative and riveting history, Peter Englund has reduced an epoch-making event to its basic component: the individual experience.

Englund’s narrative is based solely on what he learned from the writings of soldiers and ordinary citizens alike. They comprise a remarkable, deeply personal resource. In thirty memorable days, among those we meet are: a Soviet infantryman at Stalingrad; an American pilot on Guadalcanal; an Italian truck driver in the North African desert; a partisan in the Belarussian forests; a machine gunner in a British bomber; a twelve-year-old girl in Shanghai; a university student in Paris; a housewife on Long Island; a shipwrecked Chinese sailor; a prisoner in Treblinka; a Korean “comfort woman” in Mandalay; Albert Camus, Vasily Grossman and Vera Brittain—forty characters in all. In addition, we experience the construction and launching of SS James Oglethorpe, a Liberty ship built in Savannah; the fate of U-604, a German submarine; the building of the first nuclear reactor in Chicago; and the making of Casablanca.

Not since the publication of the author’s last book, The Beauty and the Sorrow, which similarly looked at the First World War, have we had such a mesmerizing work of history.

    Summary:

THE INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

'The most important thing that has been written to date about what is in front of the American people in the next presidential election.' —Nicolle Wallace

An extraordinary view into the politics of our times, Tired of Winning explores how Donald Trump remade the Republican Party in his own image—and the wreckage he’s left in his wake.

Packed with new reporting, Tired of Winning: Donald Trump and the End of the Grand Old Party tracks Trump’s improbable journey from disgraced and defeated former president to the dominant force, yet again, in the Republican Party.

From his exile in Mar-a-Lago, Donald Trump has become more extreme, vengeful, and divorced from reality than he was on January 6, 2021. His meddling damaged the GOP’s electoral prospects for third consecutive election in 2022. His legal troubles are mounting. Yet he re-emerged as the frontrunner for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.

Jonathan Karl has known Donald Trump since his days as a New York Post reporter in the 1990s, and he covered every day of Trump’s administration as ABC News’s chief White House correspondent. No one is in a better position to detail the former president’s quest for retribution and provide a glimpse at what the GOP would be signing up for if it once again chooses him as its standard bearer.

In 1964, Ronald Reagan told Americans it was “a time for choosing.” Sixty years later, Republicans have their own choice to make: Are they tired of winning?
