  • Getting stuck in the rain (and other kinds of bad weather)

If you enjoy outdoor activities then it’s pretty much a given that you’ve been caught in the rain before.  This week we discuss the times when we’ve found ourselves in unfavorable weather, the things we do to prepare, and some things you should consider before heading out in inclement weather.

  • How do you get started with a new hobby?

It can be so easy to forget what it's like to be a beginner if you've got years of experience with an activity.  (For the record, experience doesn't equate skill... We can have years of experience being absolutely mediocre at an activity!)  So when a listener asked us to talk about what it takes to begin a new hobby, it really made us think back to how we actually got started with some of our favorite activities.

If you are interested in starting something new, but don't know where to start, this one is for you.  If you are well-versed in a number of fun hobbies then we want to encourage you to think about what you can do to help someone else develop a love for those same activities.  After all, the outdoors are generally more fun when you can share them with others.

  • When the pavement runs out, how do you keep the adventure going?

Sometimes your everyday adventure is going to take you places that the family sedan just can't reach.  When that happens you are going to need an offroad capable vehicle.  Whether you're hitting the beach, a rough forest road, or simply trying to get through town when the snow gets deep you may find yourself needing a four wheel drive.  Today we're talking about this and more!

  • Walking in the Woods

We love trails, but when was the last time you ventured where there wasn't one?  Many of us grew up playing and exploring in the woods, but fail to do so after we grow up.  This week we talk about times when we've left the trails behind.

  • Last minute Christmas ideas // Favorite gear and independent gear shops to get you on the road

This week the guys talk about some of their favorite gear.  This is the stuff that makes every adventure just a little bit better, and you'll even learn a few locally owned places to buy your gear if you listen in.  Sure you don't need many of the things here, but wow is your trip going to be more enjoyable if you have it!  That said, not having "the right" gear shouldn't be an excuse for not getting outside, so take what you have and get out there!

  • Why you should walk more// Finding similarities between New York City and small towns

We've said it before and we'll say it again, walking is the best way to get to know a place.  It's also great exercise and low impact on the environment, so it it's a win-win-win.  Stephen just got back from New York City which prompts this week's discussion on all the benefits of walking, as well as some things you have to keep in mind when you're leaving your car behind.

  • Exploring your hometown. Adventure is closer than you think

Words like "exploring" and "adventure" usually imply taking a trip to a destination that is hours away from home.  However, we don't think this needs to be the case.  Dare to be a tourist in your own hometown.  There's more adventure there than you think.
