We all want to win in life, but how do we win in the game of life?

To become a winner, it takes clarity, determination, perseverance, tenacity, and a hunger that cannot be quenched or satisfied until we win. Leaders who win, have their eyes on the prize and will not be swayed by distraction or failure.

You can become a winner by first knowing what you want, setting goals that will deliver your winning prize and working consistently towards the achievement of those goals. The way you look at obstacles is very important. Some see obstacles and are crushed under the weight of it while others use obstacles to catapult them to greatness. Obstacles test your tenacity and resolve regarding what you really want in life. When you want something really bad, obstacles become transportation. Whatever you want to achieve has obstacles as part of the process. Those who learn to use obstacles are those who succeed in the end.

Allow obstacles to refine your thinking, ignite a fire within you, reprogram your mind, reenergize and refocus you to move steadily in the direction of your aspirations and vision. Without obstacles, your dream may not be big enough. The bigger the dream, the more challenging are the obstacles. Use obstacles as transportation and not as show stoppers. Complacency is a dangerous attitude that will rob you from fulfilling your potential and suffocate your vision and goals. Complacency can also become a habit and when that happens you are slowly heading for a disaster. The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines complacency as self-satisfaction especially when accompanied by unawareness of actual dangers or deficiencies.

Just doing enough to satisfy your employer or meet the basic requirement of the job is not good. Decide to always go beyond the call of duty. Doing this kicks complacency out of the door. Doing enough to get by will stop you from being the best you can be.
