This is the second in my Story Podcasts where I regale you guys with some of my adventures growing up in the Yellowstone Area and in particular, Henry's Lake which is just 15 short minutes from the entry to Yellowstone Park. 

In this podcast, I tell you three stories. The first is about how I caught the largest trout caught in North America when I was only 14, followed by a huge bet and how a man is only as good as his word. And we finish it off with the best magic show I have ever seen. 

This podcasts covers everything you need to know before you arrive for your 2023 Yellowstone and Grand Teton vacation this summer. 
Including some VERY IMPORTANT Road Closures that WILL affect your vacation and what you can do to avoid wasting time in Yellowstone sitting in your car for hours and I tell you how to avoid the construction areas entirely if you are visiting Yellowstone and I even have an alternate route for you to get to the Tetons. 
We also cover how the 3rd highest snow total in park history has affected everything from the Bison migrating into the park, to what is open and closed in the Geyser Basins as well as the Canyon Area because everything is on about a 2-3 week delay and how you can compensate for that delay. 
We also cover new bear locations for those of you wanting to see a bear on your Yellowstone Vacation as well as how one bear has forced an unforeseen closure to the Mud Volcano Area. 
We also cover the Grand Tetons and how Jenny Lake is still frozen solid and how accessing Yellowstone from the south is going to be greatly affected by the road construction between West Thumb and Old Faithful. 
We finish off this podcast with the announcement of the much needed and much anticipated opening of West Yellowstone's first world class outfitters shop called West Park Outdoor's. And how they can now provid you with some top notch gear that you may have forgotten or weren't prepared for and where you can also rent the best Bear Spray as well as High Powered Binoculars for finding Bears, Wolves and Elk who may be a bit too far from the roads to see with the naked eye.  

As anyone who has listened to my Yellowstone & Grand Teton podcasts that you can listen to if you want more info than the is shown in the guidebook, knows that I tell a LOT of stories about the areas of the parks you are visiting. And I get a LOT of requests to hear even more stories so here goes. 

This is the first in what will be a series of my Story Podcasts where I will tell you some really fun, sometimes sad and some rather interesting stories about the areas in and around the parks for you to enjoy as you drive along. 

In this podcast, I tell the hilarious story of what was and is one of the most famous bears in the history of bear's-Snagglethooth! Who actually resides in the West Yellowstone Museum right now and how he tore my Aunt Rosalind's brand new Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser to shreds one night at the town dump. 

I then follow it up with another museum story but this time it's at the long gone museum that sat along the shores of Lake Henry's where I grew up as a kid and how I found an old picture that showed  how the Indian's that called Yellowstone home used the then swampy lake as sacred ground and how their burial plots were scattered on mounds in the lake by the hundreds. And how I almost found one as I was water skiing in the lake hundreds of years later.

This podcast covers what is probably the most intriguing., thought provoking and interesting legal paper ever written about Yellowstone Park which was penned by attorney Brian C. Kalt called The Perfect Crime. 

I recently interviewed Brian in a Zoom call you get to hear excerpts directly from the author himself in regards to just how it is theoretically possible to commit a litany of crimes, including murder, in a certain section of Yellowstone Park and get away with it-SCOTT FREE!
And we discuss the loopholes in our laws and Constitution that have created that loophole and what needs to happen to close it. 

I finish out the podcast with a complete reading of The Perfect Crime verbatim for you guys so you don't have to look it up yourselves and can listen to my reading while your driving down the road.  

It's a very thought provoking concept that actually exists in a remote portion of Yellowstone Park and  I think it is just a matter of tome before someone puts it to the test. 

It's the 3rd Friday in April and just like it has every year, Yellowstone Park is open for business! Or is it???? 

Starting today, you can drive from Mammoth or West Yellowstone to the Canyon area and over to Old Faithful. BUT!!!!

The park has seen it's third highest snow totals in 100 years and the highest totals since all records were set in 1996 when the park had an unbelievable 29.5 feet of snow. 

As Yellowstone opened today, the ground in the park is still covered by 6-8' of snow at the West Entrance and up to 12' of snow in the Canyon Area and the high temp for opening day is supposed to be 29 degrees with a low of 7. If you see Old Faithful go off, all your going to see is steam and everything in the Canyon area is closed as is every trail in the park and Grand Teton is the same way.

Follow the tips in the Planning Your Yellowstone Vacation Chapter in the guidebook and don't waste your Time and Money by coming to the park too early and freezing your ass off and not seeing anything. 

This podcast covers what I have found after going into Yellowstone a few times after the park re-opened after the historic floods this spring.

We also cover how West Yellowstone, the busiest entry town by far for Yellowstone Park is down nearly 40% from previous years and why you should take advantage of this and come on with it!!

We then cover when the North Loop opened up and as usual,  how to beat the crowds at the main stops and see the best Yellowstone has to offer without another tourist in sight. Including where you can swim in the park even though all the main park swimming areas are either closed or damaged beyond repair. 

We also cover a new momma grizzly bear and her tiny, tiny cub and where the best spot is to see her.  We even cover the opening of a brand new restaurant in West called Jakes Chop Shop where you can get some of the best locally sourced steaks found anywhere in Montana. 

But its a great time to visit Yellowstone as visitation is WAY DOWN and how you should take advantage of that.  means and we cover all that in this podcast. 

 

After the unprecedented flooding disaster that hit the worlds first National Park and the surrounding areas, Cam Sholly, the Park Superintendent, has pulled off the impossible. 

Without a single loss of life in what has been described as a 100 year event with billions of dollars worth of damage, Cam Sholly, along with Sarah Davis, the head Park Ranger for Yellowstone, have been able to not only avoid a single death during this enormous disaster, they have been able to set a re-opening date within only a week or so after these unbelievable events transpired.

In this podcast, I cover everything that Cam Sholly went over in his daily press conference on June 17th in which he described how the re-opening of Yellowstone Park is going to unfold. 

I cover every detail possible to help know what you will find when you arrive for your Yellowstone vacation for the remainder of the year. 

And it's all great news. Yellowstone is set to open next week after a simply masterful job by Mr. Sholly and Mrs. Davis and their staffs have been able to pull off so you can come to Yellowstone and help celebrate what has become a most memorable 150th birthday party for the worlds first national park!

We cover how the bears are REALLY moving around and staying down low due to the deepest snow this late in the year I think I have ever seen in my life.  

We go over when you can dine at the fabulous Lake Hotel and more importantly-when you can't but how to find what may possibly be the best hot dog ever!!

When then cover how the Old Faithful Inn is FINALLY open including the hippest bar in the US-The Bear Pit Bar.

This podcast is for those of you that requested more stories.  I have thrown in two near death experiences that occurred while white water rafting the world famous Kitchen Sink Rapids in the Bear Trap Canyon on the Madison River.
