Hunger is the best sauce! In this episode of Rapid Devotionals, we'll explore spiritual hunger and its implications on our walk with the Lord. One key takeaway is that we need to learn to not "spoil our appetite" with "junk food", filling ourselves with lesser things, when only God will ultimately satisfy our hunger and thirst."Blessed and fortunate and happy and spiritually prosperous (in that state in which the born-again child of God enjoys His favor and salvation) are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness (uprightness and right standing with God), for they shall be completely satisfied!" (Matthew 5:6 AMPC)"Ever thirsting is the secret to never thirsting." - Andrew Murray, Abide In ChristAs long as you're thirsty, you'll be refreshed, and as long as you're hungry, you will be filled. "Draw me, we will run after thee..." (Song of Solomon 1:4 KJV)We all go through seasons of perceived dryness, when we simply don't have an appetite for the things of God, when we're filling ourselves with lesser pleasures and chasing temporal fulfillment outside of the presence of God. This hunger, this driving force, is essential in our walk with God and in pursuing spiritual growth. If we ever sense that appetite waning or fading, the first key to breakthrough is to simply recognize it. Then ASK. Ask the Holy Spirit to stir up a new hunger and desire in you. I guarantee that is a prayer He will always answer! One thing I've discovered is that the more of God I "eat", the hungrier I get. It's the opposite of the natural. Our spiritual appetite often suffers when we're filling our souls with other things. They don't necessarily have to be sinful, just not spiritually beneficial. When we begin to fill our souls with the Word of God, with anointed teachings/sermons, spending time in prayer, praise and worship, waiting in stillness in His presence, etc., it begins to kickstart and stir up a hunger in our hearts for MORE!Stay hungry my friends! Drink deep, eat and be satisfied in His wonderful presence. Nothing else in this world compares!
