Think about your life right now. Are you creating the life you want, or going through the motions, or living a life for everyone else but what you want?

What are you escaping from in Life and Work?

What's in your life you need to remove or change to create harmony?

Make a list of the things that you want to remove from your life.

List things you want in life to create to achieve harmony and balance.

Think about what you want and the steps you will take to improve your life.

Start slowly removing the things blocking you from achieving your goals and adding the things that will help you change your circumstances to achieve them.

Once you start implementing the action steps, you will feel the shift from being trapped to a sense of peace and freedom to be you.

I am Patti Oskvarek from Coaching for Inspiration with Patti, a Work-Life Balance and Leadership coach, Reiki Master, Blogger, and Podcaster.  

I help managers and supervisors to become better leaders and live a more purposeful, balanced life outside of work.

Today, I wanted to share about Affirmations.

When I worked as a Manager and Supervisor, there were days I needed encouragement, a boost of confidence, or meaningful inspiration when all around me was in chaos. I would recite affirmations to help me get through the day. 

I would write affirmations on yellow sticky notes and put them on my steering wheel, computer, or bathroom mirror. To help get me motivated for the day. When I took a break, I would listen to affirmations as I took a walk. 

Affirmations helped me refocus some positive thoughts and get the negative thoughts out of my head to reframe those thoughts into good ones.

Some people think Affirmations are woo-woo. However, I don't see it that way. It can shift your mindset if you want it bad enough. If you are dealing with the daily grind and have constant interruptions or coworkers trying to discredit you, having positive words and thoughts is good to keep you stable, inspired, and focused.

Have there been times when you needed some inspiration, reassurance, or encouragement during your work day? 

I use affirmations in my coaching style by giving clients affirmations during coaching sessions to keep them focused on their goals. 

While in a coaching session, I may use my Work-Life Balance Affirmation cards that I created during the coaching session and pull a card; the expression on their faces is priceless because the card is what they need to hear to inspire them.

Clients use them, and they recite the affirmation daily and weekly. It reminds them of their wants and keeps them focused on the end goal.

I created the Work-Life Balance affirmation cards to inspire and encourage; read and repeat them throughout the day. Post them around your home, work area, or in your vehicle. They are pocket-sized, which makes them easy to carry around with you.

How to use the Work-Life Balance Affirmation Cards:

Shuffle and randomly select a card, reflect on it, and repeat the affirmation throughout the day. Or choose a card for the day you would like to focus on and have in your life.

In this podcast episode, we will explore dealing with unsaid words.

I am sure we all had a life situation where we wished we told someone how we truly felt.

How many of us have been ghosted sometime in our life? 

It may have been a relationship, a job offer, a promotion, a networking acquaintance, a promise, or a business deal.

Did you want to know the reason why? 

How do you get over it and move on?

Recite positive affirmations for healing and to eliminate negative thoughts.

Create a gratitude journal. Every day in the journal, write one to three things you are grateful for daily.

Be aware of your emotions and feelings; take time to feel them — work on halting the complaining, constantly talking about it, and overthinking the situation.

Spend time with positive, happy, and motivated people.

Pick your battles. Sometimes, chasing the person may cause more damage to you. If the recipient doesn't want to hear from you, they won't respond. Start focusing on what you want in life; you are worth more.

Hire a life or leadership coach or therapist to help you overcome the hurt and disappointment.

How's it going?

Holiday Time is coming. Are you prepared as a Manager and Supervisor?

For a manager and supervisor, this can be a stressful time keeping the business running at maximum speed or at all.

Holidays have a lot of personal stress and often affect the work environment. What do I mean? It can be distracting and can lower productivity in the workplace. Some people become less productive at work during the holiday season and lose motivation. Productivity may be lower because managers and staff are on leave from the office, and workflow slows down.

What are some ways to prepare and ease the anxiety for you and your staff?

Preparing well in advance with your staff who is taking time off and what holidays you are taking off - gives everyone a sense of commitment and understanding, and everyone can prepare with their family and friends.

As a manager and supervisor, sometimes in our work-life moments, we want to be left alone and don't want to listen to others at work, yet the other person needs to be heard and understood. We may be tired, exhausted, have deadlines, and want to avoid dealing with one more interruption or problem.

In this podcast episode we will explore active listening techniques as a way of helping to improve leadership skills.

As a manager or supervisor, active listening helps build a healthy working relationship with your boss, co-workers, employees, clients, and customers. Becoming deeply aware of and working on the skill of listening may enhance communication with others in the workplace and your personal life.

Active Listening Techniques to Explore:

Be silent when others are speaking

Keep an open mind

Be aware of your body language

Watch the other person's body language

Listen for keywords to understand

Ask short, direct questions to understand

Paraphrase what was said and ask if you understood correctly

Are we responsible for other's attitudes and responses toward us and others? 

It depends on how we treat people and ourselves. If we are abrupt, condescending, and demanding, we may be responsible for how people respond and react to that behavior towards them.

How do you feel or respond to a boss, co-worker, peers, and others in the workplace or outside of work who are rude, unkind, or harsh in their tone with you?

What are the effects of working in a toxic environment?

Empathy without boundaries doesn't work and can be self-destructive and disruptive to the workplace.

Are our actions contributing to a positive, negative, or neutral outcome in the workplace environment energy? 

What are the results of working in a cohesive, collaborative, supportive environment?

As Managers or Supervisors, having efficient and effective meetings is crucial to running a successful business. Group meetings that aren't productive waste valuable time and cost the company money.

Have you ever been in a meeting where at least one person or all attendees have nothing positive to say about anything?

What happened to common courtesy, collaboration, and respectfulness towards each other?

How can we change the behavior in meetings? 

It takes one person at a time, starting with Managers and Supervisors, to lead by example and reverse this unprofessional behavior.

A set code of conduct and behavior etiquette is essential to successful meetings. Being courteous and respectful allows everyone to speak, be heard, participate, and engage, which is when great results will happen. Be organized and prepared. As Managers and Supervisors, we lead by example; if we are focused and engaged, our employees will be too.

Why do you ask questions and sometimes not give tips or solutions to the discussed topics?

Why are the podcast episodes 5 -6 minutes?

This podcast is for Managers and Supervisors to self-reflect and explore within themselves on topics I discuss and to come up with solutions they already know the answer to and for self-awareness of themselves as leaders and become better people at work and home. 

The podcast episodes are 5 - 6 minutes because the audience I serve works longer hours and only has a few moments to listen. 

As a leadership and work-life balance coach, I am committed to helping managers, supervisors, and others become better leaders and live a more purposeful, balanced life outside of work. I do this for the listeners to explore themselves, situations, and topics that happen as a Manager and Supervisor that they may not be able to discuss with others or behaving in that affect their teams and family.

I talk about topics people are scared to discuss but want help with. Years ago, it was acceptable, but it is not now. 

I've had listeners comment that when they have listened to some of the topics I discussed, they lived it, and that is why they left the corporate environment and went out on their own. 

Thank you for the questions and for letting me clarify the format of these podcast and why coaching helps others open up awareness and discussion of these complex topics.  

In this podcast episode, we will explore the feeling of aloneness as a Manager and Supervisor.

Have you ever felt that as a leader or business owner, you are isolated and not having anyone to talk to about work situations?

I think we have all been there. Our decisions are sometimes tough and tax our minds, body, and soul. The relationships within the workplace, at times, are brutal.

It reminds me of the TV Show Alone. This show is about ten survival experts put in a remote area at least 10 miles away from each other to fend for themselves with ten survival items, some clothes, and live off the land. 

How does this compare to your work life?

Are there days when you want to hit a button and go home and never go back?

Days of being a manager and supervisor can be overwhelming, especially when you have no support or lack of trust in others in the workplace due to betrayal, unrealistic expectations, or harsh criticism.

I held up the T-shirt and told my husband; I am buying this. As a leadership and work-life balance coach, I encourage people not to feel this way.

So why did I want to buy the T-Shirt?
