Caroline Cobb talks about her new album A Seed, A Sunrise In 2011, singer-songwriter Caroline Cobb gave herself a goal to write a song for every book of the Bible in a year. That year of writing set in motion a passion to tell the stories of Scripture through music, with imagination, artistry and faithfulness to the text. Her forthcoming album A Seed, A Sunrise explores the longing of Advent, the joy of Christmas and the anticipation of Jesus’s return, and builds on previous story-telling albums the Blood + the Breath (2013) and a Home & a Hunger (2017), the latter being named among “The Best Albums of the 2010s” by The Gospel Coalition. The Ascension is essential to the gospel The good news of Jesus includes his life, death, resurrection, and future return—but what about his ascension? Though often neglected or misunderstood, the ascension is integral to the gospel. In The Ascension of Christ, Patrick Schreiner argues that Jesus’ work would be incomplete without his ascent to God’s right hand. Not only a key moment in the gospel story, Jesus’ ascension was necessary for his present ministry in and through the church. Schreiner argues that Jesus’ residence in heaven marks a turning point in his three-fold offices of prophet, priest, and king. As prophet, Jesus builds the church and its witness. Doreen Virtue holds a B.A. and M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Chapman University, and she is currently 3/4 of the way through earning an M.A. in Biblical and Theological Studies from Western Seminary in Portland and Seattle. She surrendered her life to Jesus as her Lord and Savior, and left the new age. She has denounced her previous new age work, and does not use cards or any new age practices. Other people continue to sell her old work, even though she’s asked them not to. It seems they are selling the bottom-of-the-barrel old stock, and will soon be discontinued.
