Trip-Talks inside The United States Immigration Zone

Extending and re-designating Syria and Syrians for TPS

Listen Later

Welcome to Trip Talks, you are inside The Immigration Zone

Good morning, ladies and gentlemen, this is U.S. immigration attorney Hardam Tripathi from Trip-Law.

Department of Homeland Security published a federal register notice this past week extending and redesignating Syria and Syrians for temporary protected status for about 18 months, effective March 31st of 2021 through that September 30th, 2022 deadline in that date frame.

The extension and redesignation were actually announced on January 29, 2021. By then the acting secretary for DHS, based upon ongoing armed conflict and extraordinary and temporary conditions in Syria that prevent other Syrians from safely returning to their home country, they have now allowed this notice to be published in the Federal Register for the public to view. Basically, what this registered notice does is that it's an extension that allows about six thousand seven hundred current beneficiaries who are Syrians to reregister and retain that temporary protected status through September 30th of twenty twenty two.
