Breaking news can be one of the most exciting and stressful parts of journalism. This week, hosts Caitlyn Kelleher and Joy Richard speak with Chelmsford Independent Multimedia Journalist Margaret Smith about the topic, and her most recent experience covering a breaking story.
For their sixth episode, the Richard and Kelleher discuss with Smith what goes into each breaking story, and how reporters navigate the sometimes sensitive topics that come with the territory of covering of police, fire and crime.
Smith said she most recently covered a breaking story that came by way of a Jet Ski crash on the Merrimack River. The crash led to the death of 16-year old Lowell resident who was pulled from the river after the Aug. 13 crash.
