Not only is this lack of evolution unacceptable, but it is also time for these institutions and the people who participate in them to take accountability for the lives they have failed to care about and support. It’s not pretty, and it’s not cool, but it’s true and happening - so let’s talk about it and uncover ways we might make different choices for ourselves now, as we heal from the experience of exploitation and repression the church foisted upon us. And more importantly, let’s start looking at ways religious institutions must catch up with the rest of society in some key ways.
