In this episode we jam on a recent reeport that explores the idea that Gen Z adults are less likely to save for retirement due to financial struggles and a different view of retirement. Only 20% of Gen Z respondents are saving for retirement, with 36% citing high debt or low income as the primary reason. Despite the challenges, 66% of Gen Z savers are using 401(k)s, and 84% report saving a portion of their income each month.

We also talk about the concept of retirement emerged in the late 19th century with the introduction of pensions in Germany. Initially, pensions were offered to military personnel and later expanded to include civilians. Today, governments face challenges in funding pension plans due to increasing life expectancy and longer retirement periods.
