Eye Of The Storm: A Guelph Storm Podcast w/Ryan Drury

Ryan welcomes on Storm forward Ethan Czata, a major summer acquisition by the team from the Niagara Icedogs. Ethan talks about growing up in Brampton, his time in Niagara, where he served as captain, representing Canada internationally, and his goals for a loaded Storm squad this season. He also shares some stories on his extensive tattoo collection.

Storm 2026 2nd rounder Finley Butler joins Ryan this week. He talks with Ryan about scoring his first career goal in his first career OHL game (Sept. 18 against Erie), his early hockey days in London, playing for the Jr. Knights and his prep heading into his first ever OHL training camp.

Ryan welcomes back Storm VP of Business Ops Matt Newby to talk about the long summer of planning for this season with hosting the Memorial Cup looming in May of 2027. Matt details the planning for the upgrades in the Sleeman Centre, including new fan areas, a new scoreboard and a striking addition to centre ice.

Ryan kicks off season 4 of the show by sitting down with Storm GM George Burnett, who had a very busy summer of wheeling and dealing. They discuss the many new additions to the Storm lineup, the excitement around hosting the 2027 Memorial Cup and what winning the first Memorial Cup title in franchise history would mean to George and the whole team.

Ryan welcomes on fellow Storm voice Dylan Baker, who calls Storm games for 1460 CJOY. Dylan talks about his first year calling OHL games after replacing the legendary Larry Mellott on the air, his career so far, as well as attending the 2026 Memorial Cup in Kelowna, where he handled a number of media duties for the CHL. He also details how exciting the 2027 edition of the tournament will be, as Guelph gets set to host with big plans for fans of all ages.

Ryan welcomes back longtime Storm centre, Guelph native, and Ohio State Buckeye Jake Karabela to the pod. Jake gets into his first year in the NCAA, campus life, his courses, the differences between playing in the OHL and college, and his very successful freshman campaign where he had 37 points in 37 games and was named to the Big10's all-freshman team, ending the season with Rookie of the Week honours.

We will be doing the podcast throughout the off-season for the first time, with episodes coming out monthly until the season gets back underway in September.

With the playoffs set to begin, Ryan sits down with Storm Head Coach Cory Stillman to look back on the 2025-26 regular season, the improvements he's seen in the players, the strength of his coaching staff with Rob Davison and Scott Simmonds and the excitement of hosting the Memorial Cup next season. Cory also discusses this year's first round matchup against the Windsor Spitfires, and how the Storm are looking to play underdog upset.

Ryan welcomes on former Storm captain Garrett McFadden and former Storm Community Relations Director and current GTHL Director of Strategy and Communications Stephanie Coratti, who are the co-founders of mental health organization McFadden's Movement. Steph and Garrett share details on the roots of the organization and how the Guelph Storm helped to foster the growth of the work being done. They also speak to the Guelph community and the help along the way to emphasize the message of McFadden's Movement, including the annual golf tournament which returns this summer, as they get ready to celebrate a decade of championing mental health awareness.
