  • CHAT-CONTROL -- Fin du chiffrement : comment l’UE veut espionner TOUS vos messages-2025-08-06

    L’Union européenne prépare un projet qui pourrait mettre fin au chiffrement tel que nous le connaissons.

    Avec Chat Control et la Feuille de route pour un accès légal aux données, Bruxelles veut permettre à des algorithmes de scanner directement, sur votre appareils, chaque message, photo ou vidéo avant même leur envoi, y compris sur des applications chiffrées comme Signal, WhatsApp, Telegram, iMessage ou ProtonMail.

    Derrière la lutte contre les atteintes aux mineurs, c'est tout un système de surveillance généralisée qui risque de voir le jour dans quelques mois. En réalité, cela ouvre la porte à :

    Une surveillance permanente de tous les citoyens.

    Des backdoors intégrées aux systèmes, affaiblissant la sécurité de tous.

    Des écoutes téléphoniques transfrontalières.

    Un transfert de pouvoir vers des entreprises privées comme Microsoft, Google ou Thorn, qui contrôleraient les outils de détection dans une logique mercantile.

    💡 Pourquoi dire NON ?

    Parce que la vie privée est une liberté fondamentale. Elle protège les journalistes, les avocats, les militants, les victimes, les lanceurs d’alerte… et chaque citoyen ordinaire.
    Accepter que nos téléphones deviennent des mouchards, c’est accepter qu’aucune conversation ne soit jamais vraiment confidentielle. C'est modifier nos comportements au risque de l'auto-censure. Et une fois cette infrastructure en place, l’histoire le prouve : on ne revient jamais en arrière.

    This week on the Big Picture Podcast, we’re joined by author and investigative journalist Antony Loewenstein.

    We spoke to Loewenstein early in 2024 about his best-selling book ‘The Palestine Laboratory’ - which chronicled how Israel tests high tech weapons in Gaza before exporting them to the world.

    Since then, The Palestine Laboratory has been turned into a documentary with Al Jazeera, where Loewenstein travels to Mexico, Greece, India and South Africa to investigate how this technology is changing law enforcement and government surveillance around the world.

    Part of his work has examined how Silicon Valley and the AI sector have fueled the rise of a new arms race, one where technology giants like Microsoft and Amazon now compete for lucrative defence contracts worth tens of billions of dollars.

    These are the same companies that once promised only to use their powers for good. Google famously enshrined the words ‘Don’t Be Evil’ into their manifesto.

    But what was happening behind the scenes was a different story.
