She is a talented cabaret performer, comedienne, television star, author and more recently a singer. The inspiration behind 'Priscilla Queen of the Desert'. One of Australia's first sex changes and a dedicated reformer and advocate for the GLBTQ community. She is in her late sixties no doubt simply FABULOUS. A popular urban myth concerns a group of art students who passed themselves off as a band in order to con the local publican into giving them a gig in exchange for free beer. The deception worked better than intended, and the group came to be known as Mental as Anything. Decades later, they are still irritating the public with their highly listenable, idiosyncratic brand of garage pop. The Tropical Fruits New Year's Festival is a four day queer celebration held in the city of Lismore in sub-tropical northern NSW, an area known suitably as the Rainbow Region. The New Years Eve Party and the New Years Day Recovery Party are held at the retro-chic Lismore Showgrounds, lovingly transformed by hundreds of volunteers into a sumptuous
