Face to Face with the Guilty | Matthew 9:1-8

Listen Later

If reels had existed in Jesus’ day, his miracles would have gone viral for sure. Like a paralyzed man from birth getting up off his mat and walking for the first time!

But what if the part that truly mattered wasn’t the moment that made everyone say “Wow!”?

This week in Face to Face, we’ll look at an unforgettable encounter in Gospel of Matthew 9:1–8 where a man is brought face to face with Jesus. Everyone wanted and hoped for one thing - healing. Jesus gave him something greater.

Before He healed the man’s body, Jesus spoke to his deepest need: “Take heart, son; your sins are forgiven.”

What is your greatest need right now? If one problem could be solved, what would bring you the most relief?

We often think first about the physical, relational, or emotional burdens we carry—and those matter. But in this powerful face-to-face moment, Jesus reveals that our greatest problem isn’t what we usually think… and our greatest need has already been met.

Guilt can weigh heavy. Shame can feel final. But Jesus meets the guilty not with rejection— He meets them with grace that changes everything.

Discover how, in the presence of Jesus, condemnation turns into restoration—and why forgiveness is the miracle we can never afford to miss.

Come ready to lean in. Come ready to hear Him say, “Take heart.”

The sermon entitled "Face to Face with the Guilty" was preached by Senior Pastor Tim Glende at CrossWalk Church as part of the "Face to Face" message series.
