  • Episode 73: Dr. Suzanne Bennett — UC Health
    In March, our lives were turned sideways at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. That’s especially true for Dr. Suzanne Bennett, an anesthesiologist at UC Health, who went from performing relatively routine surgical procedures to helping craft the health system’s pandemic response plan.
    On episode 73, Suzanne talks about how she realized her dream of becoming a doctor after working as a nurse and what is has been like on the medical frontlines. As the director of UC’s critical division, she’s made personal sacrifices including working 16 to 18 hour days and deciding to have her three youngest sons temporarily stay with their father full-time this spring. Suzanne is also one of the doctors who cared for episode 72 guest Tonia Elrod, who suffered from a massive heart attack and several cardiac arrests.

  • Episode 72: Tonia Elrod - P&G Executive + American Heart Association Ambassador
    Toward the end of 2018, P&G executive Tonia Elrod received a clean bill of heart health. Four months later, she suffered a massive heart attack and went into cardiac arrest. She was unconscious and didn’t have a pulse when the paramedics arrived. Against all odds and after two weeks in the cardiac ICU, Tonia survived.
    On episode 72, Tonia shares her recovery journey that continues today. Her brush with death taught her that our reactions are what define us and that there’s always something to be grateful for. Tonia is also using her story to promote heart health as an ambassador for the American Heart Association and as the co-chair of the Cincinnati Goes Red for Women campaign.
