Ella and I met 6 years ago through a mutual friend. It has been a joy and inspiration to watch her journey and explore different parts of the world. Ella started her own business called That Good Vintage while she was away. Her business combines a beautiful love for sustainability, fashion, self expression and creativity! Watching her dance in her reels and share herself is an absolute joy. 

Through this conversation it became more clear the ways some of the ways in which our stories align, both being sober and having lost our mothers to name a few. Ella proves a beautiful guide through her experience in life. She is someone who embodies adventure, is a spiritual seeker and someone who lives life and explores. Her energy is beyond radiant and it was such a gift to get to spend time with her while she was in Toronto. As with so many people in my life, I feel this was just the beginning of something beautiful that is unfolding.

Desh Fernando is a chef and works in TV and film. Took a break from his 12 year career in TV and film production to pursue becoming a chef and now has the opportunity to bring the two together with his upcoming show Chef Desh Adventure Cooking! He also has a catering business called Chef Desh Adventure Cuisine where I had the pleasure of meeting him a year ago at his first gig. He has also run numerous sourdough workshops around the city. Randy is a Toronto based musician and music teacher. We met back in the day when I hired him to work at Starbucks in what I thought was the least professional interview of my life, outside among the scaffolding in heart of the Financial District in Toronto. Trained as a classical pianist with the voice of an angel and some serious modelling skills it has been a joy to learn that my hiring him was one transformational moment from his life. Evelyn Tu is a multimedia artist, content creator, and a plant mom. Her creative interests are creating content, videography, traditional painting, analog photography, and exploring different mediums to express herself creatively. A lot of her works are inspired and influenced by water and nature.

She was born and raised in Taiwan and is now based in Toronto. 

She has a bachelor's degree in fine arts. She studied graphic design and has recently graduated with a degree in communication and media. She was previously working as a marketing manager for a local business.

She has a great passion for social justice, culture, art, music, and all things creative. We met when I was hiring as a manager at Starbucks while I was boundaried and professional as her manager our friendship has blossomed when that role shifted and it is truly a joy to have Evelyn as a friend!

Tony Tabona is a creative director from Botswana who is currently living in Sao Paulo, Brazil for the past 2 years with his cat Rio. I was lucky enough to have him as one of the people checking up on me after my trip here had an unexpected delay. A mutual friend put us in contact so I would have someone who knew the city as a point person while here.

Tony has travelled the world working towards bringing business opportunities back home to Africa. One of the projects he is working on now is exporting commodities from Brazil to regions such as Zambia, Zimbabwe, and DRC Congo. It has been a joy to get to hear more of his story over the past few days and see the passion he has for innovation and care for the places he has called home. I found Maggie's work on instagram some months ago after seeing one of the reels she made. The work that initially drew me in was her interview series with people from all over the world in Fi Di Kulcha, where she showcases what life is like for different people in various countries through their lived experience. 

She has a series called Kitchens of Toronto where she showcases various local restaurants featuring types of cuisine, there are a few places I now need to try! She has also started her own production company to help small businesses and nonprofit organizations tell their story through videos. 

Being new in the podcast game and not really having much of (any) following I thought it would be a long shot to invite her as a guest since we have never met and she is definitely making a name for herself on youtube with over 8,000 subscribers (headed towards 10K!) and I am technically just some random person from the internet, if we even refer to it as that anymore? 

I was so excited when she agreed to come and let me say she is as wonderful and funny in real life as she is on her channel. It was a pleasure to chat content creation and hear a bit more about her process as well as getting to know her as a person.
