In this first of our vision for 2030 series. we explore the first step that we will be a welcoming haven for all, regardless of their background or circumstances; a place where people can find refuge, support, and a hope.  

We often think of commiting to Jesus as a list of boxes that we need to check to keep God happy. But at it's core, discipleship is about relationship and being present with the Father. 

Salvation is free but following Jesus comes with a cost. It requires us to go all in. It costs us our priorities, our desires, our intentions. When we completely commit to follow King Jesus, all that we have and are is His.

When Jesus says come after me, what does that mean? Following Jesus is much more than just a mental agreement, it requires allegiance where one is fully committed in his or her pursuit of Jesus. A follower is someone who pays allegiance. 

Any significant relationship means changes to existing relationships. When I entered into marriage, my relationship with my parents changed. When we follow Jesus, the other things we follow change in importance. Jesus doesn't want leftovers, he wants us - completely.

God desires to welcome his prodigal children with open arms and a spirit of celebration. We need to reflect this same kind of grace and mercy in our church to everyone with hurts, habits, and hangups. We must move our churches from being recovery-resistant to recovery-minded.

The greatest act of love you can show toward a friend is to help that friend find Jesus. The best way to do that is to share Jesus’ story. Everyone knows someone who needs to know more. While we can’t reach everyone, we can each reach someone. We can all take responsibility for one. And, because of God’s power and the work of His Spirit, each of our ones can add up to make a significant impact for God’s kingdom.
