Millions of brood X cicada are expected to emerge from their underground homes and climb up trees looking for a mate. No harm will come to the trees and the cicadas fulfill their 'mission' of mating to make more cicadas. Once they find a mate, they die and become an all-you-can-eat buffet for birds and other wildlife.
