Jesus asks a pretty direct question.  To help you really hear what He’s asking He tells a couple of stories.  What you find out in Scripture that it doesn’t advise you to look within but to look up to God alone. He alone is the One who knows what lies ahead.  He knows what it takes to make it through tough times.  This question comes because Jeus knows we have a Lordship problem. Lordship means that you yield every area of your life to Jesus.  When the Lordship of Jesus is settled in a believer’s life, the foundation and all other issues will be settled.  When the Lordship of Jeus is settled in your life, you will hear Jesus’ words and want to do what He says.

Jesus is a soul healer.  He is concern about you’re entire life.  I guess that’s why it’s  hard to not  be always tickled at this question, because it sounds like something some neurotic person would ask.  But Jesus asks “Who touched me?,” because He knows someone had the faith necessary to just reach out and touch His garment and that would be all that would be enough.  Jesus wants to know who has that kind of faith in His presence.  The question for each of us is, “Is it me?”  Do you have that kind of faith, where just the nearness or presence of Christ gives you the healing that you need?  With this message you discover that if you follow Jesus, He will lead you to heaven, but your life like is more than a just your final destination; it’s also about the journey!  What part of your soul needs the attention of the Lord today?

Jesus rebuked the crowds who knew how to interpret the weather but who missed what was right in front of them. He taught that God’s kingdom had come. The crowds who followed him saw the signs and miracles he performed. He called them hypocrites because they were open to the ways of the world. They had the intelligence to know that it was better to settle a case before it went to court, but their minds were closed about spiritual things.  Do you tend to do the same thing at times? Essentially, Jesus is begging individuals to examine their own hearts and decisions, exercising personal judgement to live following after God’s will instead of just conforming to appearances.

Jesus goes on a ride with His disciples when a fierce storm comes on them, only to lead them Into a greater moment of trust.   Jesus is regularly training His disciples .  They become afraid.  They forgot who was in the boat with them.  Jesus has a destination for them and for you.  Jesus ends up  with a plan to run into a demon-possessed man.  Lessons on a ship that lead to en even crazier moment:  Discipleship at its core is followship!    The sudden storms of life never alter God’s plan for your boat or your life, which always leads to more trusting in His plan.  When Jesus asks ,”Why are you so afraid?,”. The problem wasn’t that they were afraid, but that their fear was elevated over their faith.  The great part of today’s question is this idea:  Every storm is subject to Jesus!  His question today helps you to examine your soul not your storm and what you might confront next in life. .

The question isn’t Will there be a storm, but when is the next storm coming and what will you do about it?  Panic, fear, unknown and getting help is on our thoughts.  You start by sending out an S.O.S. out to the Savior and then trusting Him in the boat With you through the storm. Storms will come – sometimes often and sometimes endlessly.  How will you go about navigating the storm?

Sometimes we have storms that need something sure to hold on to.  Other times there’s a lot of waiting and you sure don’t want to drift. So, what does a believer do to keep from drifting?  There is plenty of distractions to keep your life ship from remaining secure and sure in the storms, in the changes, or just in the waiting. Just leave shore without your anchor.

To keep anchored in your faith, and to keep from drifting, you will need God’s Word and cling to every one of His promises.  It’s critical to use the anchors that God provides.  You will want to navigate life with an anchor.  It would be like driving without brakes.  What is your anchor?  What are you clinging to?

Colossians 4:1-18 – Mother’s Day -(Bruce)  - The more the world becomes high-tech, the more people need high touch.  As good as letters and phone calls and Zoom meetings can be, you need people: real people in the same room that you can see and touch

Paul knows that he can’t be present in person, and he doesn’t just send a letter. He sends messengers, real people who will show up in his place to be present with them.

The farther Paul is from the church, the more he goes out of his way to make a personal connection. The more disconnected we become, the more we must lean into connection. The less possible it is to be present in person, the harder you must work at connecting relationally. We are not self-sufficient. We need others to do for us what we can’t do for ourselves. We need other people to update us, encourage us, comfort us, and pray for us.

The truth is is you were never meant to do life alone.  Isolation is the slow death of a productive and satisfying life.

Colossians 3:12-17 – (Brian) Paul is going help us know what Christ establishes for you to wear for the journey and means of staying in the right lane along the way.

Today, you should be grateful to Dean Sicking, an American inventor who came up with the idea of energy-absorbing guardrails for US roadways to keep your car on the highway.  But did you know there are also guardrails to keep your life in the lane of God’s will?  After describing the character of the new man (saved and changed), Paul turns toward our conduct.  He gives us several guardrails that will keep your life “between the white lines” of the will of God.

Colossians 1:1-14 (Brian)  One of the best compliments you could ever receive is “You are a great Christian!”  Paul tells us in Colossians that there are traits to showing that you can be a great Christian.  He was thankful for the work of Christ in the Colossians lives that made them valuable (great) in God’s sight and for His cause and purpose.

So, before theology there needs to be knee-ology!  Praying is one of the most basic activities that any Christ-follower can use in their spiritual journey. This prayer in Colossians makes a great template for you to pray over other brothers and sisters.  This prayer Paul prayed is basic and a core issue for them.  Sounds good for you to practice too.
