Only the gospel can bring about a “new creation” into this present age of sin and death. Only the gospel can lift the veil covering man’s sin and cause the blind to see. Only the gospel can mend the lame and broken hearted enabling them to walk in newness of life. Only the gospel can forgive the past, give victory in the present and secure the future. Only the gospel. Therefore, we must know to whom we belong, know what we believe and know who we are to become. And it is this Gospel that doesn’t just inform us, the gospel transforms us.

There is no plausible explanation for the church’s existence, humanly speaking this corporate gathering shouldn’t have made it past the early years of its existence. Yet, there are millions and millions of people all over the world this weekend who are celebrating a Jewish carpenter who lived and went public for about three years, who never traveled more than about 30 miles from home, who never gave a televised speech or went viral on the internet. And what is even more fascinating is that over a third of the world's population on this weekend are gathering in his name and lifting their hands and singing similar songs in languages you've never heard of and have dedicated their lives to this man Jesus. There's no explanation as to why that is happening, except of course for the reason we celebrate at Easter. Jesus, died for our sins, He was buried in a tomb, and He arose again.

Although the church meets in a building, the church is not a building. Although, the church participates in programming, the church is not a program. The church is a unified visible local assembly of believers found in Christ that has been called out to fulfill His holy purposes.
