Genesis 37. Joseph must deal with the hatred and bitterness of his brothers toward him.

Genesis 35-36. As Jacob journeys back to Bethel, he meets sorrow, finds God’s blessing, and purifies his life from the false idols his family had been worshiping. This is in contrast with the life of Esau, who has done well for himself.

Revelation 3:14-21. Jesus tells the church in Laodicea to stop being lukewarm and complacent in their faith.

Revelation 3:7-13. Jesus tells the church in Philadelphia to hold fast to what they have so that they might gain the crown of life.

Revelation 3:1-6. Jesus tells the church in Sardis to wake up and strengthen what they have left, in order that they not die.

Revelation 2:18-29. Jesus tells the church of Thyatira that they must be intolerant of the woman Jezebel who has corrupted them with her immorality.

Revelation 2:12-17. Jesus tells the church in Pergamum that although their determination is good, they also must be discerning in who they tolerate and listen to.

Revelation 2:8-11. Jesus speaks to the church in Smyrna and encourages them to be faithful unto death.

Revelation 2:1-7. Jesus speaks to the church of Ephesus to remind them not to lose their first love.
