Welcome to the  Faith & Family Trailblazers Podcast! In this episode, we explore a new perspective on anxiety and how to turn it into a powerful tool for growth. 

Healey Ikerd is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.  She has a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Arkansas, a Master's of Human Relations Degree from the University of Oklahoma, and a Master's of Science Degree from John Brown University in Community Counseling and Marriage and Family Therapy.  She has also earned a Certificate in Ministry from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary.

As a veteran of the U.S. Army, Healey now runs her private practice, HopeLife Counseling, in Fayetteville, Arkansas. With 17 years of experience in mental health, she has dedicated her career to helping both children and adults navigate their emotional and mental health challenges. She has authored a workbook called Changing Your Feelings, A Workbook for Anxiety and Worry From a Christian Perspective, and a recently released children’s picture book entitled The Red Ball, A Story of Friendship and Forgiveness.  She is working on a 40-day devotional to help women understand their God-given identity.

Healey enjoys life on a small farm with her husband.  They are new grandparents to two beautiful grandchildren.

She was a college child psychology professor for ten years and a high school science teacher experienced in Special Education for sixteen years.

Martha is a popular guest on shows and podcasts and was the show host of Healthy Moments at Bluewaterhealthyliving.com

One of the ways Martha contributes to the community is by going to jails and treatment centers speaking with the addicts and alcoholics. She stopped drinking over six years ago.

She has walked on fire three times. Once at a Tony Robbins seminar in Cancun Mexico.

Martha was married for 25 years when her husband passed away unexpectedly from liver cancer. He died three weeks after being diagnosed.

Martha has two granddogs, both of them rescues.

Ava has extensive experience in education, college admissions, teen parenting, and navigating life as an entrepreneur. She has served as a school director for ten years and an educator for 20 years, both in and out of the classroom. She started a college consulting business to bridge the gap between high school preparation and college, helping students find their niche and voice for successful college acceptance. Ava’s household is centered around education, and she wants to help other teachers and educators succeed.

Ava conducts her own student testing and assessment to determine how students fit into college and their values. Her entrepreneurial endeavor involves bootstrapping and wearing many hats as a small business owner, figuring out all aspects independently. She wants to provide any advice from personal experience that might be helpful to others, especially educators, on what to watch out for when starting a similar venture. While Ava does not claim to revolutionize the college admissions process, she recognizes its laborious nature due to its dependency on colleges, and she has implemented many personalized strategies and methods to make it easy to enter and navigate and successful as an outcome for students and their families.
