In this episode of Faith and Freedom, I’m diving into a parallel I never expected to find—the Fantastic Four and the four Gospels.

This episode was first inspired by four people in my own life who came together at just the right time. Four very different people, with different personalities, strengths, and roles, who became unified around one purpose. That personal experience got me thinking about another group of four—and eventually led me somewhere I didn’t expect.

Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.

Four Gospel accounts. Four different perspectives. Four different voices. Yet all pointing to the same person: Jesus Christ.

Much like Marvel’s Fantastic Four, their differences don’t weaken the story—they help make it complete. Each brings something the others don’t, and together they give us a fuller picture than any one perspective could provide alone.

So what could Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, and Ben Grimm possibly have in common with the four Gospels?

Probably more than you think.

What could Marvel's Wolverine possibly have in common with Jacob from the book of Genesis? More than you might think.

In this episode of Faith and Freedom, Matt DiConti explores the remarkable parallels between one of the Bible's most complex patriarchs and one of pop culture's most iconic heroes. Jacob entered the world grasping his brother's heel (Genesis 25:26), spent much of his life striving, deceiving, and chasing blessing, and ultimately found himself wrestling with God. Wolverine's journey is also marked by conflict, scars, perseverance, and a relentless search for identity.

The turning point comes in Genesis 32, where Jacob wrestles through the night, refuses to let go until he receives a blessing, and walks away forever changed. God gives him a new name—Israel—but also leaves him with a limp. As Scripture says, "Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel; for you have struggled with God and with men, and have prevailed" (Genesis 32:28).

Sometimes God's greatest blessings don't erase our scars—they give them purpose.
