  • And Samuel Grew / Dr. David Nettleton

You don’t have to have ideal circumstances to be an ideal person.

    Scripture Texts

    1 Samuel 2:26; Luke 2:52

    Main Points or Ideas

Don’t ever blame your sins on your circumstances. God made us to be able to rise above our circumstances through His grace. Samuel did just that.

There are three different places that you need to increase in especially in this stage in life:

    1. Stature

      • Physically
      • To increase in health
      • Take care of your body, it is the temple of God.
      • It is a sin if you ruin your body on purpose or even by neglect.
    2. In Favor with God

      • God delights in growth.
      • Grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ
      • God is pleased with our growth.
    3. and Man

      • Jesus increased socially.
      • God has called most of us to work with people.

    Conclusion

In your growth and accumulation of great knowledge, don’t forget to take care of your health and of your spiritual and social life.

  • Publishing the Word / Dr. David Nettleton

    Scripture Text

    Psalm 78:11

    Main Points or Ideas

    1. The Bible is the Word of God.

      • This assumes that there is a personal God.
      • God communicates and therefore He can be known.
      • Hebrews 1 begins with two assumptions.
      • God is the author of the Bible even though men wrote it.
      • Jesus only ever quoted the Scripture.
      • Jesus did not question the Scripture; He always referenced it as authoritative.
      • If you are going to copy someone, copy Jesus Christ.
      • Jesus never said in His entire ministry, anything that would cast doubt on the Word of God.
      • The Bible claims to be the Word of God. It has never been disproven as such.
      • The Bible works and it has changed your life.
      • The Lord is still in the business of opening hearts.
      • The Gospel of Jesus Christ
    2. It is our duty to publish it.

      • We ought to find our pleasure in going everywhere to preach the gospel.
      • Publish the Word.

    Conclusion

We are part of the people that get to publish and share the Word. What an honor.

  • You Are His Epistle / Dr. Robert T. Ketcham

An epistle is a letter. Scripture Text2 Corinthians 3:3Main Points or Ideas

You are the letter. The born-again Christian is not just a letter carrier, they are a letter in and of themselves. God has a message to get to the lost down here and you are the letter.

The only Christ that any person in this world is ever going to see, except for when they meet Him face to face, is the one they see in you and me.

If you are a Christian, your life should tell it.  When the world sees you as a Christian, they will say, “So that is Christ.”

All I am in heaven this morning is in Jesus Christ. When the Father wants to see me, He looks to the face of His son.

All Jesus Christ is in this world today is in you and me.

It is no joke to be a Christian.  All we are is in Him and all He is in this world is in us.

What can you do without a body? Who are you without a body?

How do we express Jesus Christ?

What you are in your daily conduct, in the eyes of the world, is the representation of Jesus Christ.

We need to accurately show to the world what kind of Christ He is through the way we live.

We are not our own and we have no right to run our own life.

  • The High Cost of Writing Paper / Dr. Robert T. Ketcham

A lot of people think that the Christian life is just a constant battle. The Christian life is Jesus Christ living His life out through the members of your body. All you have to do is keep out of the way and let Jesus have His way.

    Scripture Texts

    Primary Text: Romans 6

    Supplemental Texts: 1 Corinthians 3; Romans 6, 7, and 8

    Main Points or Ideas

Jesus has a message that He wants to give and we are the letter.  When you say to the world that you are a Christian they view you as what Christianity is.  They have a perfect right to judge Jesus Christ through how they see Christianity lived out in us.

Preoccupation with the person of Christ is the secret to a life of victory.  Jesus Christ bought our bodies.

We were crucified with Christ and Christ lives in us.

We must die to self and to sin. (Rom. 6:11)

Dead to sin and alive to God
Dying out to self will and to self interest
    Dying out to sin
    This is not sinless sanctification
If you know that you are being tempted to commit sin, you don’t have to do it!
We have the ability to have victory over our known sin.
You will continue to struggle with the sin that is ingrained into your nature.
If you have been a Christian long enough, you should know where the verses are that you need.

Set your mind on things that are above (1 Cor. 3)

    Because you are dead
    Romans 6, 7, and 8

Don’t be afraid to surrender to Him.

Why would Joseph of Arimathea believe that Jesus was going to rise from the dead when His disciples didn’t even believe He was going to rise from the dead?
Part of our inheritance is to suffer with Christ.
There is joy that comes through the tears of suffering.
Are you willing to bear your cross with Him?
Suffering first and then the glory.

    Conclusion

Die to sin, live for Christ, suffer, and be cleansed. This is the writing paper and you are it.
