This week focussed on the emergence of the first ever sect of Islam - the Khawarij. They emerged during the time of Ali, and they are an interesting group that can also represent an “attitude” that continues to exist in the Ummah which the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) prophecized and warned us about.

We are kicking off this month with a brand new series, “The Glory Days”, where we will be studying the first 30 years after the death of the Prophet through the reign of the 5 khulafa ar-rashidoon (rightly guided caliphs) - Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman, Ali and Hasan. May Allah be pleased with them all.

Our first class will be about the first Khualafa “Abu Bakr: The Hero we Needed” presented by Sheikh Zohair.

Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "Seven people Allah will give them His Shade on the Day when there would be no shade but the Shade of His Throne (i.e., on the Day of Resurrection): And they are: a just ruler; a youth who grew up with the worship of Allah; a person whose heart is attached to the mosques, two men who love and meet each other and depart from each other for the sake of Allah; a man whom an extremely beautiful woman seduces (for illicit relation), but he (rejects this offer and) says: 'I fear Allah'; a man who gives in charity and conceals it (to such an extent) that the left hand does not know what the right has given; and a man who remembers Allah in solitude and his eyes become tearful"

Abu Huraira (RA)reported:

The Prophet ﷺ said, “There are seven whom Allah will shade on a day when there is no shade but His. They are a just ruler, a youth who grew up in the worship of Allah, one whose heart is attached to the mosques, two who love each other, meet each other, and depart from each other for the sake of Allah, a man who is tempted by a beautiful woman of high status but he rejects her, saying , ‘I fear Allah,’ and one who spends in charity and hides it such that his right hand does not know what his left hand has given, and one who remembered Allah in private and he wept.”

In a world of temptation, desire and shamelessness, there are a special group of God’s servants who refuse to bend to the suffocating pressure around them.
