What is the church? Some have wondered if the western church hasn't been influenced by feudalism. There are feudal lords, vassals, and peasants. There are pastors, assistants, and laity. The overseers provide goods and services while rank and file provides money, bodies, and support. This is consumerism, capitalism, supply and demand all bundled up into one dysfunctional system.

The church is biblically described in different ways. Theologically, the church consists of all the redeemed of all time. It also refers to a local group of believers who voluntarily assemble together for the advancement of the kingdom of God. The church is called a family, the bride of Christ, a temple, a building, and the body. The head of the church is Christ and everyone else is the body. The local manifestation of the church is what we are, FCC.

Entrance into the church is contingent upon an individual being regenerated. Upon salvation grace is given to each person, with which he serves the others. To build up the body, Christ has given apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers. These individuals are given to the church to equip her to do the work of the ministry, to the end that we might be mature and grounded in our faith and practice.

The church is organized by a plurality of leadership. There are to be elders and deacons. The elders oversee the spiritual welfare of the congregation: leading, guiding, and directing. The deacons oversee the practical work. Within this structure ministry unfolds in various expressions and the people of God are glad.
