9/6/15 - Shane Koehler - The fact that circumcision was introduced long after Abraham was declared righteous because of his faith indicates that justification has always been a matter of faith and not a result of religious rites or ceremonies.

8/30/15 - Shane Koehler - Abraham is presented as evidence that God has always justified sinners as a gift through faith, not because of meritorious works.

8/23/15 - Shane Koehler - It is critical to the integrity of the gospel that justification comes apart from works and only by the perfect life and death of Christ. His work alone fully upholds the law; our faith is just the means by which we receive His rightesousnes. We have no place for boasting.

8/16/15 - Shane Koehler - Because God is a perfect judge, he cannot simply overlook sin - sin is a violation of His law. At the cross, Christ shows that God is perfectly just in His punishment of sin and perfectly loving and gracious in His justification of sinners.

8/9/15 - Shane Koehler - Righteousness cannot come to any person by their own efforts at law keeping or religious practice, but only as a gracious gift received by faith. Christ's sacrifice pays the ransom to remove God's curse and judgment from us.

8/2/15 - Shane Koehler - Because of the pervasiveness of sin, the greatest need every person ultimately has is for righteousness. This righteousness cannot come to mankind through their own efforts at law keeping or religious practice, but only as a gracious gift received by faith.
