Two types of church leaders in the New Testament:
1) DEACONS
one who serves
2) ELDERS
- lead the church with a servant attitude
1 Timothy 5:17; Hebrews 13:17; 1 Peter 5:1-3
- equip the saints by teaching the Scriptures
Ephesians 4:11-12; 1 Timothy 4:4-16; 2 Timothy. 4:2-4
- protect the church from false doctrine
Acts 20:17, 28-30; 1 Timothy 1:3-4; 6:20-21; 2 Timothy 4:1-5; Titus 1:10-16
- preserve the unity of the Body
2 Timothy 2:14-18, 23-26; Titus 3:9-11
Qualifications:
1 Timothy 3:1-13
Titus 1:5-9
- a good reputation
- self-control
- godly values
- a spiritually healthy home
- a proven, mature faith
- a teachable spirit
**The New Covenant brought new attitudes and customs concerning the intrinsic value and beneficial involvement of all ethnicities, socio-economic levels, and specifically women.
We believe that when the Bible is interpreted comprehensively, it teaches the full equality of men and women in status, giftedness, and opportunity for ministry.
