In this episode we take a few minutes to address some of the pressing issues that loom over our society. With the pandemic still on the rise and social unrest ramping up this is just how we see it. The Word of God is our truth and what we build our lives upon and in these trying times we hope to give some insight and maybe another perspective.
In an attempt to weave our way through the crazy stuff going on around us we discuss our need for the Holy Spirit in our lives. He is, as described by Christ, our helper and comforter. We can't, in our earthly wisdom and efforts, even begin to fix the problems we face today without the very Spirit of God in our lives. We touch on a few sports related topics and look forward to when that can be a bigger staple of conversation.
Somewhat of a continuation of last weeks talk we look at an interesting section of scripture in Jeremiah that describes what we believe to be the root of the issues that are facing our world today. We have a sin problem, a heart problem, and a truth problem. In the book of Romans we learn that the wages of sin is DEATH; death spiritually and physically. Christ has come that we may have life and have it more abundantly. The Truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the only thing that can give us life, make us right in the eyes of God, and put in us a renewed heart. As Christians we must be the light that shines bright in the darkest times and lead people to the cross.
With the world neck deep into a pandemic and the American public in an uproar over the senseless murder of George Lloyd in Minneapolis we, the church of the Lord Jesus Christ, must stand up and be the church. We were created for such a time as this. To be the light that shines bright in the darkness. To bring the message of faith, hope, and love to a lost and dying world. To be the hands and feet of Jesus.
In this episode Austin and I take a dive into the topic of who God is. Who God says he is in the Word, who He says he is in us, and who we are in Him. All to often as followers of Christ we live this subpar mediocre life that is, in many ways, not reflective of the life Christ has called us to live in him. God the father has given himself many names that describe who he is to us and through those names we can begin to understand what that life should look like. God, as our father, clearly desires for us to be so many things and it's important for us as believers to know and understand His great desire and truly walk in it on a daily basis.
Deuteronomy 28: 1-14 If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth. 2 All these blessings will come on you and accompany you if you obey the Lord your God:
3 You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country.
4 The fruit of your womb will be blessed, and the crops of your land and the young of your livestock—the calves of your herds and the lambs of your flocks.
5 Your basket and your kneading trough will be blessed.
6 You will be blessed when you come in and blessed when you go out.
7 The Lord will grant that the enemies who rise up against you will be defeated before you. They will come at you from one direction but flee from you in seven.
8 The Lord will send a blessing on your barns and on everything you put your hand to. The Lord your God will bless you in the land he is giving you.
9 The Lord will establish you as his holy people, as he promised you on oath, if you keep the commands of the Lord your God and walk in obedience to him. 10 Then all the peoples on earth will see that you are called by the name of the Lord, and they will fear you. 11 The Lord will grant you abundant prosperity—in the fruit of your womb, the young of your livestock and the crops of your ground—in the land he swore to your ancestors to give you.
12 The Lord will open the heavens, the storehouse of his bounty, to send rain on your land in season and to bless all the work of your hands. You will lend to many nations but will borrow from none. 13 The Lord will make you the head, not the tail. If you pay attention to the commands of the Lord your God that I give you this day and carefully follow them, you will always be at the top, never at the bottom. 14 Do not turn aside from any of the commands I give you today, to the right or to the left, following other gods and serving them.
In this episode we finish up our personal leadership session from the last episode and then jump into how God looks at us when we honor our word and keep our commitments. Being on the lookout for the Energy Vampires that suck the life out of us and how we should respond in those situations. By examining some of the leaders that we've noticed recently in sports we look at how God expands the realm of our influence when we are the leaders we're called to be and maintain honor and integrity within our personal and professional lives.
In this episode we discuss what it takes to lead while having adversity in our lives. From time to time we all face adversities, temptations, and trials but it's how we handle those trials that's most important. As leaders of families, businesses, or in our communities we must constantly be looking to Christ for the answers.
In this episode we talk briefly about what Faith, Family, and Football is all about and why we decided to start this podcast. The podcast is hosted by two regular guys...Nick & Austin. We're both husbands to beautiful wives, fathers to awesome kids, fans of football, but most importantly followers of Jesus Christ. We hope you enjoy our show.
