The Wellness Puzzle Podcast

Faith, family & forgiveness

Listen Later

In this deeply moving and inspiring episode, I speak with the incredible couple, Sheree and Justine Elliott, whose lives have been transformed through faith, community, forgiveness, and a commitment to helping others.

Both Sheree and Justin know hardship intimately. Sheree experienced homelessness, while Justin’s journey included neglect, anger, drug addiction, and prison time. Yet despite the pain and adversity they faced, they found a new path forward — one grounded in faith, family, and purpose.

Today, they dedicate their lives to supporting Melbourne’s disadvantaged and homeless communities. As founders of the YouTube channel The Short Straw Melbourne, they rally support, raise funds, collect donations, and organise outreach walks through the streets of Melbourne, handing out backpacks, essential supplies, and most importantly, genuine compassion and connection.

This conversation is raw, honest, uplifting, and a powerful reminder that no matter where we begin, transformation is always possible when people are met with love, hope, and forgiveness.

In this episode we discuss:
  • Sheree’s experience with homelessness
  • Justin’s journey through neglect, anger, addiction, and prison
  • The role faith played in changing their lives
  • The healing power of forgiveness
  • Creating family and community when you’ve never had it
  • Supporting Melbourne’s homeless and disadvantaged communities
  • The mission behind The Short Straw Melbourne
  • Why compassion and connection matter more than ever
  • How anyone can make a difference in the lives of others
  • This is a truly inspiring conversation about redemption, resilience, and the extraordinary impact of serving others. Not to be missed.
