The comparison trap will lead us into believing that God isn't fair or that others have been better equipped while we've come up short and aren't sufficiently resourced for the call. Let's see how the parable of the talents can help us discover just how equitable our God is.

Oftentimes when we are called by God to birth something, it can feel like it just won't happen because so many parts of our journey have gone wrong that it seems like there is just no way for things to come out right. But what we find in Genesis 35 is that God can be the great Equalizer and has a way of righting all of our wrongs.

In Genesis we discover that there are dangers and consequences connected to where you pitch your tent. The people, places and things you surround yourself with can have a major impact on the development of your faith. I believe there is valuable insight that we can learn in chapters 13 - 19 from Lot that can be applied to our own lives in this area.

But if you allow it, the spirit of comparison can creep in and the lust of the eyes will draw you into the dangerous place of discontentment. The Israelites during their wilderness journey were so focused on the promise of Canaan that they overlooked the provision and protection of the Wilderness. They developed a mindset that we often find ourselves struggling with today, discounting the hand of God by thinking "It's just clothes and shoes".
