When we accept Christ as our saviour, our hearts become a temple for the Living God. But what are we allowing in that temple? As we continue our series in 2 Corinthians, we look at chapter 6, which encourages us to cleanse that temple of anything that grieves the Holy Spirit. We are reminded that we become like those that we surround ourselves with—but as God’s people, we are called to live set apart from the world and pursue deeper intimacy with the Lord. Let’s examine our lives today on Live in the Light and remove anything that does not belong in the temple.
There are certain restaurants that have such a distinct smell, that should you go there for lunch, everyone at the office will know where you’ve been from a single whiff. We’re told in 2 Corinthians that we as Christ followers carry the aroma of Christ. Much like the permeating smell of fast food, it’s one that follows us wherever we go. We’ll learn more today with Minister Ian Cameron and Pastor Andi Mannok.
How could a humiliating death on a Roman cross be history’s greatest victory? Working through Colossians 2:13–15, Dr. John Neufeld traces Satan’s defeat from the promise of Genesis 3:15 to the Cross, where God cancelled our record of debt, disarmed the powers of darkness, and broke Satan’s authority to hold his captives. His only remaining weapon is the lie.
The Mysteries of the Cross: Why did Jesus have to die, and what really happened on the Cross? “The Mysteries of the Cross” is a five-message series where Dr. John Neufeld teaches from Scripture on the important and contentious issue of the atonement. He covers the fundamental topics of sacrifice and wrath in the Old Testament, Jesus as our substitute, the doctrine of imputation, how Satan was defeated, and who Jesus died for. Discover why the Cross belongs at the centre of all we believe and how we live. There is no greater thing that we can do than to plumb the mysteries of the Cross!
