Lent is a season rich with tradition, ritual, symbols and more. From Operation Rice Bowl, to this year’s Ash Wednesday ashes Anne and Haley discuss what joy and challenge Lent brings, not to mention the connection between Minecraft and The Nether, etc.

While this Sunday we celebrated the 6th Sunday in Ordinary Time, once again there is nothing ordinary about this week. The cultural holiday of Mardi Gras has deep religious roots that folks night be aware of. Go big before going home, or rather feast before the fast, as Lent commences on Ash Wednesday.

February offers a host of crazy, creative and cultural holidays. From Groundhog’s Day, Valentine’s Day, Presidents’ Day to Mardi Gras, and the Super Bowl, Anne and Haley determine whether or not these holy days (the root of the word) are A or B List.

January is a very long month. 31 days. Granted the days are getting longer--I count every minute but the post-holiday buzz and glow is gone.  One remedy is humor. Anne and Haley discuss the joy of humor, where they find and seek to cultivate and celebrate this great gift.

As Haley reflects on the 29th anniversary of the Notre Dame swim team bus accident, she also reflects on the 60th anniversary of the election of our 1st Catholic president, as we inaugurated our 2nd Catholic president, which was barely mentioned. Why?

As we reflect on MLK Jr Day, and recent racial events, Haley & Anne agree this is no “ordinary time,” the place we find ourselves in the Liturgical calendar. Speaking of Justice and Mercy, and keeping in mind another great advocate for Civil Rights: Fr. Ted Hesburgh.

The Baptism of the Lord comes at a time with our country needs a baptism – REBIRTH – as well. Anne talks about Mark Shriver’s book on Pope Francis and his pilgrimage, and Haley shares her pilgrim experiences as well.

Haley & Anne look back on 2020, keeping in mind Janus, the Roman God with two heads: one looking forward and one looking back. Anne discusses Ringo Starr, the Bee Gees, and Panda Express. Haley resolves to pray more to the Saints.
