There are times where it is good to be together to celebrate, even for introverts. As the people of God we are called to make the circle of God's community wider and wider. Community is, in part, what it means to be made in the image of God. Today we talk about how we might heal division and work toward being made one in the Spirit.

What tools do you use to get yourself organized? I use 2 formats to help me get my month, week and days in order. My big plans are made with some sheets from passion planner (http://www.passionplanner.com/downloads/) , and the I use daily emergent task planner sheets(http://davidseah.com/node/the-emergent-task-planner/ ).
I am not totally organized, but they help free up time and limit some wheel spinning. But the question is for what? Today Rohr calls us to focus in on what is most important and let go of other things. What one or two things do you need to do well? What do you have to stop doing to do that?

Today we are 10 days out from Christmas and we are talking about how we receive gifts. Today's question is, "how can you receive instead of manage life?" How does managing give you a sense of importance? How does receiving give you a sense of unimportance?

Are you one of the good guys or the bad guys? Would you be a stormtrooper or part of the rebellion? Are you half full or half empty. Today we look at ways we might get around dualistic thinking and grow in the faith through listening to Jesus. Today we ask, "do you tend to think dualistically? Does it help you to be more loving? Does it help you to be more obedient to the gospel?"

We try all kinds of ways to find a joyful and fulfilling life. But sometimes these are night the right ways to go about it. What in your life, material or not, are you using to fulfill a need that really should be sought from elsewhere?

God is willing to go to extreme lengths to connect with you. To the point of leaving the others so that you will be brought back into the community. God, and a good church, will also be willing to go back to the basics whe needs and rebuild the foundation. Today we ask the question, "When have you been so lost that you've had to go back to the very foundations of your faith?"

There are times when we have to name the darkness and brokenness for what it is in hopes to let the light in. We need to know where we have to shine the light of Christ into our hearts in hopes to release the power of the unknown, or the known that we don't want to face from gaining more purchase on our lives.
In what parts of your life are you trying to push away darkness instead of living with it as a teacher and transformer?

Is your faith about you or about God working through you. That is our question of conversation today during a little shorter devotion. But there is a little homework to listen to Jeremy Camp's Empty me as you reflect on our question of the day. You can find the song on youtube here: Empty me by Jeremy Camp: https://youtu.be/TWk42LFOQXM

A sample is just that it is a little taste or teaser about what is to come. But we don't want to mistake the sample for the whole experience or else we will miss out on so much. The sample is a narrow window into the future that is to come. So today's question helps us expand our understanding of the Kingdom of God to encounter the fullness of what God has to offer.

Warm sweaters, friends, family, Bearded Theologians, and reading books to preschoolers are a few of the things that bring us joy. But are those the things that bring lasting joy? That is the conversation today as we talk about the new sight Jesus can give us in this season of advent.
If you are just jumping in we are using Richard Rhor's book Preparing for Christmas to guide daily conversation. And you can connect with me at [email protected] or via social media @cmbishop on twitter and @cmbishop82 everywhere else.
