Panelists explore what it means to wield positive masculinity. Through scholarship and popular media, a generation of women are now able to express their identity in this modern world, an expression born of years of inequality and oppression toward women in America. These shifts have also changed the roles and expectations of men, who as a society are beginning to seek a method of critical thinking toward how they can express the kind of positive and healthy masculinity that popular culture tends to lack. As a result, many men feel uncertain about how they are expected to relate to women, each other, and themselves. Modern Manhood is a conversation between four male-identifying individuals from a diverse set of backgrounds sharing what they were taught as children about masculinity, what they’ve discovered as they’ve grown, and what they’re still trying to figure out.
