John 1:43-51 | Jesus personally seeks out Philip. He calls Nathanael by name. He knows him intimately. In this way He proves that He is the Messiah, the good shepherd who knows and cares for each sheep. Yet the true miracle isn’t that He knew what Nathaniel was doing. The greater miracle is that He would open the way to heaven for sinners.

Isaiah 61:10-62 | Isaiah rejoices in the Savior who gives him and us righteousness. Even though most won’t listen Isaiah continues to preach about this Messiah for the sake of the few who do listen. He continues until he is proven correct when the Messiah comes. When the Messiah comes He gives us a new name, righteous one.

Isaiah 7:10-14 | Ahaz rejected the Word of God as something not worth trusting. His loss is our gain. God gave a promise that is worth grasping. Immanuel, God with us.

Verses 3-5 We would surely be embarrassed for a King to see our house as it is, so naturally we

must prepare for His coming. This preparation means getting rid of anything

that might block His way.

Verses 9-11 But we don’t want to prepare only our

own house, but let everyone know.
