I must be honest, I have spent most of my life looking for my calling, my purpose, my destiny here on this earth. I have wondered and wandered trying to figure out who I was and why I was. And when I became a mom I think I became even more lost. It was like, not only did I not know why I was here, but now I am in the position of motherhood where I felt I did not have the time or space to figure anything else out. I mean in the midst of dirty diapers, spit up, and the never ending pile of laundry WHEN would I have the time to figure out who I was?! Have you ever felt this way?
On this weeks podcast Jernise, Ryann, and I (Dominique) got the opportunity to dig into the scripture above and we stumbled onto a truth that we didn’t expect. Often times when we think of what we are called to do we are thinking about a position. Like, am I called to be a doctor? Am I called to be a lawyer? and I called to be a mother? We so often times tie positions to our identity which is why when we are asked “Who are you?” we tend to run off a list of positions. But, on this weeks podcast we came face to face with the truth. Our call is not what position we fill, our call is to respond godly no matter what position we are in.
Sure, maybe we do not have our dream job yet, but that does not mean that we are not walking out our call. Every time we respond to a tough situation with love… We are walking out our call. Every time the storm feels like it is raging all around but we remain in peace… We are walking out our call. Every time we feel panicked and a sense of urgency well up inside, but we choose to walk in patience… We are walking out our call.
We have made the concept of being called so complicated when it is really so simple.
