How do I humble myself? Humility, according to the Bible, is not something we can just up and do. In order to win the battles of broken bonds and spiritual warfare, we must put a daily effort into staying humble. But what does that look like? Here are a few examples of how to humble yourself before God.
Confess your sin to God. Weekly, even daily, review of our hearts and behaviors, paired with confession to God, is an essential practice of humility. (Luke 18:9-14)
Acknowledge your sin to those you trust. A true test of our willingness to humble ourselves is willingness to share with those we trust the most the weaknesses we confess to God.
Be patient when you are wronged. Patiently responding to the unjust accusations and actions of others shows our strength of godly character and provides an opportunity to put on humility. (1 Peter 3:8-17)
Choose to serve and speak well of others. When we serve others, we are serving God’s purposes in their lives. Speaking well of others builds them up. (Ephesians 4:31-32)These are just a few examples of ways you can practice humility. We encourage you to study the word, open your heart and mind to the Holy Spirit and seek his wisdom. Have a great week!
