Faith on the Fringe

Leah had decided a pastor was blasphemous before she had watched a minute of his sermon.

A guest cancelled, so this one is off the cuff, and it opens with Leah admitting she did the exact thing this show tells people not to do. She saw clips of Otha Turnbow's sermon on Jesus going to hell, felt the emotional charge, went looking for other people's reactions, and sealed his fate in her mind without going to the source. In this conversation she walks through the rebuke she got in her spirit, what she found when she finally watched the sermons, and why she says the short clip exists to deny you context and sell you a reaction instead.

The second half turns toward the economy around all of it. Leah and Malaine cover celebrity Christian culture and who is monetizing what, the Judas spirit running through exposure ministry, how to tell a watchman from an accuser, the man who publicly gave Jenny Weaver seventy two hours to live, and why loyalty to a ministry turns into idolatry faster than anybody expects. They close on holding every ministry loosely, the spiritual covering language nobody can find in scripture, and Jesus inviting the question at the foot of Mount Hermon.

Application: The first version of a story always sounds airtight, which is exactly why God put a second step in the verse. Somebody has to come and search it. A forty second clip is the first voice, and so is the reaction video stacked on top of it, and neither one has been searched by anybody. Leah ran into this in her own week and names it plainly in the episode. Before you form a verdict on a brother or sister, go be the neighbour who searches it, which usually means watching the whole thing and reading the whole chapter.

Your Bible probably says sons of Israel in Deuteronomy 32. Israel was not born for another two generations.

The Qumran copy of that verse runs a thousand years older than the text every modern translation was built from, and it reads sons of God, while the Septuagint that Jesus read has angels of God. Leah Steele Barnett opens the July Supernatural Bible Session on that discrepancy and builds the divine council worldview out of three passages, Genesis 11, Deuteronomy 32 and Psalm 82. The thread runs from the tower at Babel, where God says let us go down, through the seventy nations counted in Genesis 10, to the moment God divides those nations among the sons of God and keeps Jacob as his own portion. Abraham gets called in the very next chapter.

Malaine Lea Butler and Jenny Embrey carry the deliverance side of it: principalities assigned over territories, why bloodline work traces back to Babel, how spiritual beings meant to point the nations toward Yahweh acquired power through worship instead, and where the shedim of Deuteronomy 32:17 come from. The session closes on four places heaven answers Psalm 82, Jesus quoting it in the temple in John 10, the seventy sent out in Luke 10, the scattered languages gathering at Pentecost in Acts 2, and the song of Moses sung again in Revelation 15. Application: This is the keystone. Genesis 10 lists the nations scattered at Babel and the tradition counts seventy of them, and these two verses say God divided those nations according to the number of the sons of God and kept Jacob as his own portion. Most English Bibles read sons of Israel here because they follow the Masoretic text, a Hebrew tradition copied by scribes in the medieval period, and Israel was not born for another two generations after Babel. The Qumran copy of Deuteronomy is a thousand years older and reads sons of God, and the Septuagint, translated by Jewish scholars two centuries before Christ, has angels of God. Read that way, God calls Abraham in the chapter immediately after the nations are handed away, and the timing is the point. Everything the session covers about territorial spirits, principalities over regions and the great commission runs back through these two verses.

A missionary came in for early stage Alzheimer's and turned out to be still attending rituals.

Application: Jesus lays out a path with an ending, and the ending is public. Go alone, then with witnesses, then to the whole assembly. Dr. Robin's argument in this episode is that a non disclosure agreement takes that process and removes its final step, which is exactly what a Masonic oath does when it tells a man to say nothing about his brother. The instruction was given to stop gossip while still protecting the vulnerable, so anything that silences the third step is doing the opposite of what the text asks. Read it before you sign anything, and before you accept somebody's assurance that a board exists.

Application: This is the verse people quote most often in the debate over charging for ministry, and Leah and Malaine read it from the top of the chapter. Jesus was sending twelve specific men to the lost sheep of Israel, and two verses later He told them the workman is worthy of his meat. Before you stand on a verse, read the chapter around it, and ask who He was speaking to and what He was asking of them. Then take your own conviction about giving and receiving to Him in prayer. Once He settles it for you, let His answer be enough, whatever anyone else in the body of Christ has to say about it.

Leah and Malaine both made serious money in the New Age, and both of them put every tool down when they came to Jesus. Lately they have been going back through the archive of their own lives and asking which of those tools were actually wrong and which ones were simply being used for the wrong kingdom. Sowing and reaping. Reciprocity. Showing up in a room in a way that shifts it. Speaking over your own life. The answer they keep landing on is that the principles work because God wrote them, and the body of Christ refuses to touch most of them because they sound New Age.

Meanwhile one misquoted verse has a critical mass of believers convinced that money itself is evil, handing ten percent they do not have to buildings that are doing perfectly well, and calling the arrangement obedience. Application: Read the first five words slowly, because they are the ones that get dropped. The love of it. Paul is describing an appetite, the thing Leah calls worshiping at the altar of mammon, which she did for years and can describe from the inside. Money itself sits in the verse as the object of a disordered desire rather than the source of evil. Strip those words out, which is what happens every week from pulpits and reels, and you hand an entire body of believers a reason to be afraid of a tool. Read it whole, and the warning lands where Paul aimed it, on the heart and not the bank account.

Two mothers, two countries, three children each, killed on the same day of the same month.

Application: The psalm is a national inventory, written by people looking back at what their own country did and naming it without softening the language. Two things sit in it that the modern conversation keeps separate. The children were sacrificed to something, and the land itself absorbed the consequence. That is the frame Malaine is working from when she connects a region's rates to a principality holding ground there. Read the whole psalm and notice what breaks the cycle every time it appears, which is somebody standing in the gap and crying out rather than somebody despairing at the numbers.

Soul fragmentation came out of the occult, and it still works on Christians.

Leah & Malaine both came out of the New Age, so they recognise the vocabulary on sight. Soul loss, soul retrieval, soul parts, soul contracts. It sits in Kabbalah, in Egyptian texts, in ancient Chinese sources, in shamanic practice, and Leah taught versions of it herself for years. The kingdom of darkness builds real weapons, and as Malaine says on-mic, the Holy Spirit does not heal anybody on the back of a lie.

Which is where the trouble starts. Revelation 18 is a cargo manifest, and the King James ends it with slaves and souls of men, and that phrase has quietly become the proof text for soul trading in deliverance ministries. Leah got a check in her spirit about it, went after the Greek, and came back with something that took Malaine's own position apart on air. Malaine brought the topic in expecting an easy episode and says she was certain right up until she wasn't. Then they got into Ezekiel 13 that actually runs the other direction and turns out to be far more occult than the King James lets on.

Underneath all of it is the argument these two keep circling. The kingdom of darkness disciples its people by the age of twelve, in the natural and in the spirit, while the church runs another feel good conference. Standing on a verse that will not hold hands free ammunition to everybody already working to discredit deliverance ministry. Extra-biblical is not unbiblical. This is part one, and part two will go after blood libel and a covert economy in children, all backed by Bible of course.

Application: Read that in the King James and it sounds like a complaint about upholstery. Read it in the NET or the ESV and it is a paid ritual practice, run by a class of practitioners inside God's own people, hunting human beings with objects strapped to wrists and heads. God does not argue with them. He tears the implements off their arms and lets the hunted go. Whatever is happening in the world you are reading about right now, the response in the text is not a debate about whether it is real. It is a removal.

Forecasting your own retaliation attack is a spell, and it gets spoken in church every week.

Leah and Malaine both came to Jesus out of the New Age, where a practitioner is trained to recall a negative word the second it leaves her mouth. That training was lifted from something God wrote first, and the hosts walk it back to Proverbs 23:7, Proverbs 18:21, and Ezekiel prophesying over a valley of dry bones. From there they get into the retaliation language moving through the body of Christ, where believers announce coming attacks over themselves and over each other, then read the fallout as proof of a powerful calling.

What a person rehearses on the inside becomes what that person is, which means the running commentary about coming attacks is doing work long before any attack arrives. Take stock of what you have been rehearsing about your next season, out loud and under your breath. The case gets built inside the Protestant canon first, through Numbers 13:33, Deuteronomy 2 and 3, Jude 6 and 7, and 2 Peter 2:4-5, then carried into 1 Enoch and Jubilees for the context Genesis assumes the reader already has. Where demons come from according to Enoch 15, Mastema's bargain for a tenth of them in Jubilees, why Nephilim reads giants in the Septuagint, the Latin Vulgate and the Aramaic, why the Sethite view has no answer for the angels held in chains, and why the Ethiopian church walked out in 471 AD carrying its manuscripts to the monasteries. The session closes in prayer over every child connected to the room.

Genesis 6:1-4

"Now it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born to them, that the sons of God saw the daughters of men, that they were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves of all whom they chose. And the LORD said, My Spirit shall not strive with man forever, for he is indeed flesh; yet his days shall be one hundred and twenty years. There were giants on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men and they bore children to them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown." (NKJV)

Application: Four verses carry a story the rest of the Bible assumes its reader already knows. The sons of God, bene ha'elohim in the Hebrew, is the phrase used everywhere else in scripture for heavenly beings, and the giants appear in those days and also after that, which is the line that sends a reader forward to Numbers 13 and Deuteronomy 3 asking how any of them stood on the earth after the flood. Genesis records the event and moves on, leaving the descent, the oath and the origin of what came out of those unions to the texts the Second Temple readers held in their hands. That silence is why the session travels through Jude, 2 Peter, 1 Enoch and Jubilees before it closes.

Application: This is the verse Leah and Malaine come back to constantly, and it is the whole method of this episode. God conceals things on purpose, and the concealing is an invitation with your name on it. The honour sits in the searching, which makes the questions people are afraid to ask about yoga or astrology or muscle testing the assignment itself. It also sets the pace. A king searches a matter out slowly, with counsel, in the word, over as long as it takes. Put the thing down while you search, and let Him keep it hidden for as long as He wants to.

Proverbs 25:2. It is the glory of God to conceal a thing and the honour of kings to search it out.

1 Thessalonians 5:21. Prove all things, hold fast that which is good.

Daniel 4:34-37. Nebuchadnezzar's reason returns, he blesses the Most High, and his kingdom is restored to him.
