  • How to Create Connection Through Hospitality with Morgan Tyree
NOTE: We recorded this episode quite a few weeks in advance before there were any strong pleas not to host in our homes anymore. We hope you bank some of these ideas for the future, get creative in the present, and continue to be safe!
This week we are taking a fun, Christmas-y intermission from our advocacy series to discuss hospitality.
My guess is that when you hear this word, you are either rejoicing OR you are breaking out in hives. To be honest, it is one of my FAVOURITE things, and I am full of ideas when it comes to holiday hosting, but… I know that is not the case for everyone. ALSO, this year is just weird with hosting, so I know that not everyone is going to be on board to invite a ton of people into their home, but my guest today quickly explains that hospitality is not just about having people over, it is so much more than that.
In this episode, Morgan Tyree discusses her new book, “Your Hospitality Personality: How to Confidently Create Connection and Community.” She speaks about Christmas hosting and gives plenty of practical advice on hosting a meaningful, connected, and Kingdom-building gathering. As you listen, I hope you write down some of the practical information but also start to see which of the hospitality personalities you might resonate with the most.
    Morgan answers questions like...
What is the purpose of hospitality? How does it intersect with faith and building God's Kingdom?
Why is it significant that we know how we host best?
How do we practically create points of connection when we are gathering (making others feel loved, included, and welcomed)?

  • Advocacy + Ending Slavery with IJM's Anu George Canjanathoppil
As you listen to today’s episode, I want you to take note of Anu’s passion, her own redemption story, her love of Jesus + Justice, and her HOPE. While it is certainly packed full of information about human trafficking, the impact of violence on marginalized people, and the impact of COVID on slavery, it is also her own story of redemption and many answered prayers. I believe you will leave this episode changed, as I did.
    Anu answers questions like...
What do you believe are the greatest factors that would bring an end to slavery in our lifetime?
How has COVID impacted the needs that IJM is addressing?
Where do you see God moving in this fight?
Anu George Canjanathoppil has almost a decade of leadership experience with International Justice Mission (IJM). In Delhi, India she served as the Director of Operations and the Director of National Interventions, and in Chennai, India she served as the Director of Legal. During her time with IJM, she worked extensively to impact the justice system by collaborating with state and local governments in India. She currently serves as the Executive Director of IJM Canada. • Advocacy + Hospitality with Terri Ingraham
In this episode, Terri and I dive into what the mission of her organization is, how to use hospitality on mission, and a little bit about sexual exploitation, especially that of children. This topic is heavy, but it is real and she gives us a little insight into how these children are exploited and groomed. So, whether you want to jot down some notes on protecting children or you want to know how you can use the gifts you already have to advocate, this episode is going to encourage you that the Lord has already placed in you what you need to do this work.
    Terri answers questions like...
What is the "recipe" for having healthy, effective conversations that could actually lead to change?
Why does a topic like sex trafficking and hospitality work so well together?
How do we protect ourselves from compassion fatigue or even burnout?
Terri Ingraham is the founder and visionary for beLydia, an anti-trafficking non-profit based in Austin, Texas. beLydia uses hospitality to work to prevent child sex trafficking. She is a wife, mother of two, stepmother of three, grandmother ("Tutu") of four, and dog mom to three crazy dogs. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends in the kitchen and hanging out at the lake.

  • Taking the Pressure Off of Purpose with Ronne Rock
My guest today, Ronne Rock, shares about her travels all over the world and of women who have been uncompromisingly faithful in serving God, about her thoughts on what the Proverbs 31 woman really means (and why it can be such a relief to us), as well as her thoughts on purpose. Ronne is a mighty kingdom builder, but she gives us the hope that we can all start where we are at with our unique make-up that God has given us.

What would you tell us about the pressure of purpose?
Practically, what do we need to consider about our own experiences to discover where we are to lead and serve (aside from the Holy Spirit’s direct calling)? HOW can we start where we are?
