Over the next 4 weeks we are going to take a look at Isaiah 52-53 in depth. Isaiah is one of the most quoted books in the Bible. Isaiah 52 begins what is the 4th Song and describes the Suffering Servant. I’ve entitled this sermon the Suffering Servant or the Rejected Servant. Jesus was not someone people were seeking. He was nothing spectacular to look at. He was despised and rejected by his people.

Is there a difference in being thankful and giving thanks? Can you give thanks without being thankful? Can you be thankful without a spirit of giving thanks? Philippians 1:1-11

This is the final sermon in the Discipleship Series. Lookin at John 15:1 - 8. Join in the mission of Jesus. A disciple is on mission. There’s a goal for every disciple. It’s to produce fruit. Jesus implies that I designed you for one purpose and one purpose only, produce fruit!

This is the third part of a mini-series on one verse from Luke Chapter 9:23. What does it really mean to "follow me." We know that we play to win. We define a win and play for the win. So in church, what is a win? At our Faith Baptist, it's making more and better disciples. This is how we win as a church.

What's the connection between suffering and glory? From Romans 8:18-30: For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

Luke 9:23: And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

We are going to spend 3 weeks looking at one verse. The call that goes along with the verse. The call is for everybody, but there first must be a desire to answer the call. Are you desiring to know God more?

How many of us have heard phrases like these?

Just follow your heart.

But how foolish it is to follow the wisdom of the world and ignore the Biblical view of man.

We defined a disciple as someone who lovingly follows Jesus and intentionally helps others to follow him. We are encouraged not to follow the ways of the world but God's word, which is the sole faith and authority. Not tradition.

God is the source of Truth and is everlasting. It is absolute, constant. There's a universal truth that will always be true and withstand man's traditions.

What is the mark of a disciple? Somebody who abides in the Word. The Word of God has to be a part of a disciple's life. How much are you in the Word? If we had to measure you, can we ask how much are you in the Word of God? 

James 2:19: "You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe—and shudder!" Even the demons have faith in God. They believe in God and put their weight that God exists today. They shake in their boots. They are afraid of him and know who he is. They know his power and might and position. 

We would do well to know by scripture who God is. The demons don't have believing faith, but believe in him and tremble. Even the demons tremble! It's one thing to have faith, but it's another to actually follow Christ.
