After an unexpected break, we are back just in time for Black History Month! Amera and Mike celebrate black people and black life. They discuss what makes us...US. Start off your Black History Month with a celebration of blackness. This is us!
Black women are tired! For good reason. To start the new year, we’re taking a walk through what contributes to this fatigue. One of those things is what we are traditionally taught about Jesus’ death on the cross. We’re using insight from Dr. Delores Williams to have this conversation we hope sheds some light on why it’s time to outgrow viewing black women as perpetually raising other people’s kids. It's social commentary. It's theology. It’s liberating. Join us!
Recent events highlight a continuing problem in our churches. What are our standards and why are they important? Amera and Mike discuss the events surrounding the death of John Allen Chau, the self appointed missionary who proclaimed Christ to the inhabitants of the North Sentinelese islands. Then, they tackle the standards issue in the bible and what it looks like for us today. Standards have always been an issue. It’s time for an honest conversation about them and their function.
