What is holding you back from fully trusting God?
Fear, anxiety, self-doubt, money worries, health concerns, family pressure and the opinions of other people can quietly become a spiritual handbrake. We can say we trust God while still keeping our foot firmly on the brake.
In Part 1 of Let Go and Let God, Reverend Ben Cooper and Simon Pinchbeck speak openly about surrender, faith, fear, mindset and learning to trust God when life feels uncertain.
This episode is a powerful reminder that what looks impossible to us is never impossible for God.
“With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.” — Mark 10:27Ben and Simon explore how easily we can limit what we believe God can do through our thinking, our words and our expectations. Instead of continually asking, “Can God?”, we are challenged to start living with the confidence that God can.
The conversation also looks at the importance of remembering what God has already done. When we forget previous breakthroughs, answered prayers and unexpected doors that God has opened, discouragement can quickly take over.
One simple challenge from this episode is to begin writing those moments down. Record the blessings. Remember the breakthroughs. Keep a spiritual record of God's faithfulness so that when difficult seasons arrive, you can look back and remember that God has carried you before.
The discussion moves into Isaiah 54:2 and the call to enlarge the place of your tent — challenging Christians not to allow fear or disappointment to make their faith smaller.
Ben and Simon also discuss:
• Letting go of fear and giving control to God
• Breaking the cycle of anxiety and negative thinking
• Renewing your mind through Scripture
• Prayer and fasting
• Mustard-seed faith
• Surrendering addictions and spiritual strongholds
• Being careful about fear-driven news and headlines
• Making time with God a priority
• Remembering previous answers to prayer
• Speaking God's Word rather than constantly speaking fear
• Living from your identity in the Kingdom of God
• Allowing Jesus to truly take the wheel
The image running through this conversation is simple: you cannot ask Jesus to drive while you keep pulling the handbrake.
At some point, faith requires surrender.
Open your Bible. Spend time in the Word. Remember what God has already brought you through. Stop allowing fear to dictate the size of your future.
Let go. Trust God. And allow Him to lead.
